MANKATO - A lower-back injury will land defensive end Ray Edwards on the physically-unable-to-perform list when the Vikings hold their first training camp practice today at Minnesota State Mankato.

Re: Most recent Vikings Training Camp updates...!
Lets hope Ray with treatment and rest can recover quickly, as this could be a big year for him. Jayme Mitchell, and Brian Robison certainly can pick up the slack until Edwards is healthy.

Re: Most recent Vikings Training Camp updates...!
Just saw on the ESPN ticker that Ray is on the PUP list.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: Most recent Vikings Training Camp updates...!
It's probably not the best position for him, But I wonder if Robison will see more time at LDE while Ray is on the shelf?

Re: Most recent Vikings Training Camp updates...!
How to deal with Training Camp injuries is going to be more interesting than ever in recent times.
With the newer, smaller 80 man Training Camp rosters more guys will have more reps. IF they can
stay healthy, and not get worn down that will be GOOD for the younger "on the bubble" guys.
On the other hand, it may make more people take reps when they are injured, and thereby
prolong their injuries. Just about all of these guys get beat up in Training Camp. A few others like
Ray Edwards coming in hurt, it will now mess with the "chemistry" more than ever.
Read this article from SI - Numbers game: Shrinking roster size having growing ramifications
Navigating the pitfalls of training camp is a numbers game for NFL teams, but this year a degree of difficulty has been added that has wide-ranging ramifications in the eyes of the league's coaches and personnel decision-makers: The new 80-man training camp roster limit. ... ( the link here )

* By the way, last year when the Vikings drafted Rufus Alexander (good player, ex-OLB Oklahoma),
it was my opinion that they brought him in just like usually happens when you bring in a new Superstar...an old friend for a guy like Adrian Peterson. I have not heard 1 word about him lately.
What do you hear about Rufus Alexander?

As of 1PM CDT I did not find anything out there. Any first hand observations from Camp?
It's kind of like saying, "hey, I'm a lazy bastard and am interested in this topic and I want all you peasants to find information for me."

Why waste my time when others will waste theirs and I can continue to eat cereal or play Madden or beat off - whatever floats my boat.
It's borderline brilliant.
