• There has been some buzz lately about Ahmad Brooks, the former Virginia linebacker dismissed from the Cavaliers by coach Al Groh this spring, and perhaps the most notable candidate for the NFL's supplemental draft this summer. But teams interested in Brooks, based on his play early in his college career, might want to do a little more homework on him. It seems that Brooks, who has been working out in the Atlanta area, has ballooned up to 280-290 pounds, and has plenty of conditioning work to do before league scouts come calling. Or before teams start to consider him a defensive line candidate instead of a linebacker prospect. The good news, relatively speaking, is that Brooks is still clocking at under five seconds in the 40, and has retained much of his quickness.

THis is what he was listed at while he was playing.

Vitals:
Height: 6-4
Weight: 260
Positions: LB

He has gained 20 to 30lbs, not good if you are trying to get drafted.

Maybe he will drop to the 4th or 5th round of the supplement draft, then he would be a steal if we can get him back into shape. He was projected to be a top 15 pick in the regular draft next year if he had not been kicked off the team and he had a good year.

I'm still intrigued even though I don't know the "inside information".

Pass...we're trying to get rid of bad character guys on this team. IMO, the last thing we need to do is pick up some LB with character issues, who doesn't even possess the self-motivation to keep his body in shape.

This guy obviously isn't serious about playing in the NFL.

Yeah...gaining 20 or 30 pounds is definitely NOT the way to induce teams to take a chance on you!

I would give this guy a try out.. if he shows that he has sum talent, sign him up and put a clause in his contract about his character issue.
