MONDAY’S CHAOS THEORY: Orton Report Means Little
MONDAY’S CHAOS THEORY: Orton Report Means LittleThird, the report has no bearing right now. Walters makes it sound like the Vikings could have traded for Orton if they wanted to. Assuming that this “revelation” Walters puts forth stems from a relatively recent interest in Orton, the Vikings couldn’t trade for Orton until a CBA is reached and free agency begins. So the notion that the Vikings “backed off” is irrelevant since they were unlikely to have done anything other than talk about the idea. There was and is no action to be taken.
So, while beat writers and columnists try to stay busy during this slow period, keep in mind that some of the crap that will be coming out in the next few days/weeks is exactly that… crap.
This guy gets it.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Charley Walters: Gophers football coach Jerry Kill has his hands full in the classroom, tooA little birdie says the Vikings considered trading for Denver quarterback Kyle Orton but have backed off. But it wasn't because of any progress made by Joe Webb, who insiders say is nowhere close to being an effective starter.
What the yutz actually said. A little birdie. LOL.Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

LOL, I agree, heck, for me, I find very little from the local hacks that I put any credence to. Very little.

I try and stick to what I hear on the NFLN. They seem to be the most reliable. Even moreso when Schefter was there. The guy usually seemed to be right more often than not.
You just have to make note of key words.
"Vikings MIGHT sign X player" Does not mean Vikings have contacted whoever.
"Vikings close to deal with Y" usually is alot more concrete, but still runs the risk of it running down the tubes.

Re: MONDAY’S CHAOS THEORY: Orton Report Means Little
Typical draft time crap spewed by the local yutz's - as referred to by some round here B) - you could say that the Vikes will consider every single QB in the league for all of 2 seconds. Then again this is also from Charley Walters who does for journalism what the Rolling Stones do for anti-ageing creams.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Vikes were putting up a smokescreen about QBs and what better way than to get one of the local hacks, especially one who is known for getting most things wrong and feeding a few lines to people.Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...
