Interesting take sir but I can't believe they would pass on the fresh prince or the Mallet man if they are on the board.

    BTW.

I just got to thinking if we drafted Mallet we could put him together in a promo with Jared Allen and call them " The Mallet and the Mullet".

Several on the board that would be nice fits my friend. I still hope that someone likes one of these cats enough for us to have a trade partner but I doubt it.

Son of Jordan wouldn't be my choice either but if you look at BPA and then look at need, its either him or the two you mentioned.

I don't think Mallet is the type of QB they are looking for because of how slow he is. Prince was a hard one to pass, but I suspect that because they've repeatedly addressed the CB position early that last few years they won't go CB again.

Long story short, taken a gamble and thinking DE might be the choice if it falls this way.

    BTW.

    LOL, very funny.

If we wind up with Mallet head I won't complain to much, but I just can't get over the sneaky feeling that he is a dead man walking in this league especially if he lands on a team that runs a WCO.

Which is why he is a good fit here. We are going to go away from it.

HC says he isn't gonna change much other than to run more.
Musgrove is a WCO guy. He also favors mobile QB's to run it.
OL coach has a WCO background.
QB coach has a WCO background.
Team is geared to run the WCO.
Time is short to implement a whole new scheme even if your team and staff weren't geared to run a WCO.
Every QB we've talked to (except Mallet)fits the scheme.
Every FA that is of any worth comes from the WCO scheme.

Why oh why do you think we are moving away from the WCO? Is it because of the one article, written by a cat who can't even spell NFL that said we MIGHT move away from it?

Walterfootball just updated with Fairley falling into our laps in the first followed by Mallet in the 2nd! Not sure how likely that is, and, though it sounds great athletically, both have character concerns...it would likely be one of two opposites: The Miracle that Saved the Franchise, or the Double Debacle that Doomed the Dome!?!?!?!?

Re: "Mock Drafts I Like/Find Interesting" Thread

NFL.com has some mocks up that kinda surprise me.
in the 5 mocks, they all have the vikings taking a DE, except for one, who has the vikes taking a DT.

here they are, the writer and their viking pick:

    Pat Kirwan: DE C.Jordan

he has Gabbert going to Miami at 15 and Locker going to Seattle at 25. i think Gabbert will definitely go higher than Locker but I dont think that the Vikes let Gabbert go if he falls to them.

    Bucky Brooks: DE D.Bowers

He has P.Amukamara going to the lions at 13 and C.Jordan going to the Pats at 17. I think the Vikings take either of those two before Bowers.

    Brian Baldinger: DE C.Jordan

He has P.Amukamara going to the Lions too and Locker going to the Seahawks as well. I really think the vikes would take either of these guys before they draft DE.

these are just a few of the mocks up right now. i really don't think the vikings will draft DE with the 12th pick. i think either they get their QB or they trade back and pick up a low 1st and either a 2nd or 3rd. who knows, maybe they'll get a player if this lockout stuff is figured out in the next coming hours

Sinca any information is scarce i take what I get and that is as much or more substantiation than you have to back your claim.

Quick question- Tomlin was a tampa 2 coach his whole coaching career. Refresh me on whether the defense was switched to tampa 2 in Pitt when he was hired?

Just because you coached in a particular system doesn't mean you are going to continue in that system. Heck, Bill Walsh cut his teeth in the Coryell type offense but he changed to the now infamous WCO due to needing to adapt the offense to the players. Anything can happen.

Hmm... so that means we'll be running a completely different scheme next year. YAY!

Changing to a pass, pass, run & punt scheme from the old run, run, pass and punt
