I've got 5 minutes before I have to go to work.
    But:

I expect Calvin Johnson to have good workouts but I don't expect him to do anything stunning (mostly because expectations are so high already) but there really isn't a team ahead of us that needs a #1 WR.
I agree he is going to be very tempting but the lesser premium placed on WRs and the lack a real strong need could be the perfect combination to get him to us.

Every positions is hit or miss in the draft, WR isn't any more risky than any other position.
We shouldn't reach a player - no matter what position,
but WRs should slide down draft boards because they could be busts because the entire draft is a crap shoot and no position is more or less susceptable to busts.
When it s all said and done, you ll have to admit we re number 1!

Tampa does need a WR but they will also need a DE because Rice is gone and will be traded.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

    Re: Mock Draft- Thoughts Please!

doesn't it bother anyone else that the vikings have used THREE first round picks in the past four years on the defensive line?
unless there's an absolute can't miss guy at the d-line in this draft (a julius peppers/dwight freeney type), and i definitely do not think there is, then i think a better DE can be found in free agency, and can be in a better position to help immediately.
besides, james has a bit to go before he reaches his full potential

i say draft offense, let childress and whoever determine what young talent is out there that would fit in their offense (it exists, right?), and let them develop... that's much easier to do with younger guys that can be molded rather than has-beens like travis taylor, brad johnson, etc

besides, its already pretty much been determined that childress is hell-bent on fitting everyone to HIS system, rather than building his system around what players he has

I agree...why would we draft another DE??? Ray Edwards has really come along and he was a 7th rounder. I say draft for your most glaring need, and that's WR.

Ray Edwards was 4th round draft pick 127 overall.

And if he hadn't had trouble at Michigan State with the coaches and them thinking he had a poor attitude and being benched he would have been a 1st or 2nd round draft pick.

Drafting for need is what got the Vikings Troy Williamson 2 years ago.

With a top-10 pick, you draft best player available.
    Period.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
