    Re: The Minnesota Vikings Select....

There are players you have to take regardless of need, if they fall to you.
For me that list would include,

    Marcell Dareus DT
    Patrick Peterson CB
    Von Miller OLB
    AJ Green WR
    Julio Jones WR
    and maybe
    Prince Amukamara CB
    Nick Fairly DT
    Robert Quinn DE

If there is at least 2 QB's taken in the first eleven, there is a fair chance one of these players will fall to us. That would be my pick; BPA.

Otherwise I would take the BPA that also fills a need.
    Possibly,
    Cameron Jordan DE
    Aldon Smith DE
    Da'Quan Bowers DE
    Corey Liuget DT

I don't have us picking a QB at 12 but would give strong consideration if Newton were available.

Not Gabbert if he was there?
I like your thinking on this, but wouldn't you include Ty Smith in that top list?
Most years there is a big surprise (reach and/or drop) in the first round that allows better players to be available later than expected. Let's just hope we are not that surprise team this year making a reach pick.
Why must you defend everything this FO does....to the point of making your self look like a yes man.

Corey Liguet wouldn't suprise me at all but if Locker is there he's the guy.

To legit to quit. I like him as well but Doc points out one I continue to forget and thats son Jordan.

I don't like using the 12th on DE but he sure would be nice.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

With the No. 12 pick in the draft the Minnesota Vikings select ...

    Jake Locker, QB-Washington

I think he is our target and we will reach to get him. The one thing we are hoping for is that Julio Jones falls to this spot, or even Nick Fairley ... if they do we will have solid trade offers to move back and still likely be able to get Locker/Mallet which I think is who we are targeting.

If we take Locker we might just as well pack the Mayflower and send them on the way to LA because we won't be sniffing a playoff for the next half decade.

Ponder, Mallett, Maybe Dalton I could live with along with the obvious but Locker is just a tragedy waiting to happen.

I wouldn't mind getting locker. I'd much rather draft a DT or Julio Jones in the first and then roll with webb this year and see how that goes. I don't think we should give up on him after 2 or 3 starts. Let him have a year. I wish we heard stuff about webb getting with the WRs and organizing practices and stuff right now. He's probably depressed that he'll most likely be joining their position soon.

And if that doesn't work out, draft a qb next year. Andrew luck can't go back to school again
I am NOT here to provide good football insight or rational observations. I am an emotional 19 year old Viking fan and I expect you to adjust your expectations from my posts.

I just hope what ever we get its best player on the board. If its QB- than pull the trigger. If not... than sign a vet. Either way.. we are rebuilding so get the best player imo...

You would pass up Jones for Locker?

I don't believe I would pass up Fairley either.

What is it about Locker that makes you think he is a sure thing?

I'm on your ship, but it is only Ponder and Stanzi for me.
