Anybody who doesn't understand how important the secondary has become in the past 6 weeks to a team who can't pass the ball when we will be facing those guys 6 times a year needs to re-evaluate their analysis of the team.
Nobody said that it wasn't important.
But it wasn't the MOST important need we had coming into the draft.
That was RT and WR - which we addressed.
With the offensive additions we have made so far this offseason, I don't think that it is accurate to claim that the Vikings are a team that can't pass the ball.
    I disagree.

I believe it became the most important need after it became clear those were the guys we would be facing.

If you think we will be able to pass the ball at will with Childress as the coach, the KAO as our system and either Rosie or Jackson at the QB then you are a great optimist. If you believe they can be as good as the others in the division you are an incredible optimist. And if you think adding a questionable, undersized hybrid WR/RB is more important than strengthening our pass defense this will be an interesting debale over the next few years.

    So, where will he play?

Do we trade Taylor and use him as a RB?

Did we make a mistake overpaying wade and needed to draft a replacement?

Did our previous draft picks that many are regarding as successes just waiting to blossom like Allison and Rice really end up being wasted picks that required using a #1 to fix?

I thought the roster was set and we would just be drafting for depth. Is that what he is going to be, a first round pick who will be the #4 WR, the #3 RB and possibly a return guy?

    What will be his position?

He will play where he is needed.

Harvin will also help open up the defense for Peterson.

If it happens to be Allison that he replaces then good,
Allison was a fifth round pick and hasnt done a whole lot in his time here.
Replacing a fifth round reciever with a first round reciever is not a bad thing.
That is all fine and dandy to speculate but the truth is that this coaching staff and the talent they had could not even execute the basic elements of the offense on a consistent basis over the past 3 years. And if you take out the running game the success rate of execution was much, much lower. Now, factor in that we (May) have a new QB (Or a younger one that doesn't do well in this offense to date and can't read defenses)
and add to that the fact that we will be starting a brand new Center with Zero experience at the position at this level and a rookie RT who will be responsible for protecting whoever is the QB until this guy can get open and I don't think your theory adds up.

But what the hell, it is the draft, have fun dreaming while you can ;D

we need a safety since sharper left, wat do u think?
    We didn't need a safety even before that ball-hawking over-the-hill tackle-misser left.
Still whinning about that one missed tackle Sharper had trying to pick up the WR Winfield was supposed to tackle, but was out of position to make the play, eh Zeus?

Winfield got burned on that play, not Sharper.
Sharper missed more than one tackle, dude.

    =Z=
So did Griffin & Winfield. But you tend not to acknowledge those.
Griffin & Winfield aren't over the hill. If Sharper still had it he wouldn't be playing with virtually no guarantees, in New Orleans.
    [/quote]

Sharper was born in Nov 1975
Winfield was born in June 1977.

They are 19 mos apart in age so basically according to your over the hill scale Winfield will be there after this season.

Since when does over-the-hill happen at one specific age? Ted Washington played until he was 40, does that mean Pat Williams has another 4 years in him?

Sharper was over the hill. If you don't believe me, who cares, because the team already acknowledged that he was. When you don't get guarantee money in the NFL you're over the hill.
