Michael Boulware set to visit.UPDATE: Signs along with Kendrick Allen
More depth Perhaps?
http://ww3.startribune.com/vikingsblog/?p=1465
As the Vikings continue to talk with quarterback Gus Frerotte, free-agent safety Michael Boulware is expected to visit with the team this week. Boulware played in 16 games (no starts) for Houston last year after spending his first three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks
Re: Michael Boulware set to visit
I would like this signing actually.
He's young and would provide good depth.
When he's played, he's put up decent numbers (64 tackles, 5 picks in 4 starts his rookie season)
He might even turn into the guy to replace Sharper
I'm assuming he wouldn't command too much money, so he could be a good signing.
Re: Michael Boulware set to visit
Michael Boulware, the man without a true position.. too slow at the safety spot and not stout enough in the box.. good size, decent instincts, but just a tweaner type of player.
I think you hit it on the head.. depth maybe.
Re: Michael Boulware set to visit
I kindof liked this guy coming out but thought he was a bit big/slow to be a real coverage kindof guy.
When I think of him I always thing run support/heavy hitter.
Numbers were good his first 2 years, but appear to be down the last two.
Might be a good fit if he is healthy but still wonder how he would do in the cover 2.

A guy who like Eli was having to live in his brothers shadow. Maybe it will turn out the same
;)
Re: Michael Boulware set to visit
would be a solid backup
id like the signing, which leaves one open safety spot
which will free up a pick in the draft
Re: Michael Boulware set to visit
How many safeties do we have right now? To my knowledge, we have M. Williams, D. Sharper, Doss. Am I forgetting someone?
As for Boulware, he'd be a decent pickup for a backup position. If we sign him up, I doubt we'll be drafting a safety in the early rounds.

Doss is out looking for another team, Childress and Doss came to an agreement that Doss would look elsewhere and not be offered a contract, if Doss does not find another team he could be back here.. But it is not likely.
We also have special teamer Eric Frampton a waiver pickup from the Lions who played a lot on special teams last year. That makes 3.. So we need another 1 or 2 safeties..
