    Re: Meeting w/ Dexter Jackson

    Hey, I asked Benny "Da Rat" about dis Jackson mug, and dis is what he tol' me....
    =================================================
    Full Name: Dexter Lamar Jackson
    Born: July 28, 1977
    Quincy, FL
    Height: 6-1
    Weight: 203 lbs.

    Age: 28
    Pos: S
    Experience: 7 years
    College: Florida State

    2005 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
    Grade: 67 | Key
    Alert: None

    Comment:
    Jackson is an outstanding athlete with great quickness and is fluid in pass coverage situations. He closes on the ball, appears to have good overall ball skills and makes more than his share of big plays. He actually plays a little bigger than his size would indicate. He has smooth hips, can turn and run with receivers, comes in and out of his breaks well and has a nice short area burst. However, his quickness is probably better than his overall speed and at times he will get himself in trouble if he has to lock on in man-to-man situation. He closes much better on balls in front of him than turning and running with a quality vertical receiver. He also tends to gamble a little too much trying to make the big play and at times will put himself in bad positions. While he is very aggressive, he doesn't always have the speed to make up for his mistakes.
    ===============================================
    And dis is Offord....
    ===============================================
    Full Name: Willie Offord
    Born: December 22, 1978
    Palatka, FL
    Height: 6-1
    Weight: 215 lbs.

    Age: 27
    Pos: S
    Experience: 4 years
    College: South Carolina
    Drafted: Year:2002 Round:3 Pick:5, Vikings

    2005 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
    Grade: 65 | Key
    Alert: None

    Comment:
    He plays hard on special teams and has developed into a very good contributor in that area. He is intimidating over the middle in coverage and will make the big hit. He can match up one-on-one vs. some slower TE's because he's physical and quick enough to keep with them underneath in coverage. He has enough speed to eventually hold up in deep-middle coverage. He is a liability vs. faster and more athletic TE's, RB's and WR's in man-to-man coverage. He also needs to improve his angles in run support. He is a powerful tackler that will wrap up if in position but he often times will misdiagnose the pursuit angle and wind up missing the tackle in space.
    ===============================================
    Ok, youse mugs, now youse can fight it out! Jackson, or Offord?
