Two? I can't honestly say that. Tapeh was released because he didn't disclose an injury/surgery we had. We never did find out if the guy could play or not.Two bad signings by Spielman IMHO.......Hicks and Tapeh.
What were the scouts/Rick seeing?
I still think there was something going on behind the scenes that we are unaware of.

We won't roll with just 2 backs guys
And just because he returned doesn't mean he was our primary returner this year
And if we were to draft a WR im sure we would cut a WR

I would like him on our team because he is more of a utility player than a WR, He could take the 3rd RB slot, Then use hime like NO uses Reggie Bush, Have him and AD in the backfield, then have Harvin split wide or stay in the backfield. It would give us another exciting weapon that could break it any time he touches the ball, either catching or running. A little over 9.5 Yds / Carry too. Plus he returned punts and kicks in high school, so maybe he would fit that role again. These are just my opinions. You wouldn' have to tag him a WR, you could keep your WR and tag him as your 3rd RB, or tag him as a specialist. It is all null and void because of our plain jane coaching staff. They wouldn't know how to use him anyway. but I digress.

Thanks PPE for the Sig

I think the point is that he was supposed to be our primary returner, and was almost worthless as an RB. Therefore, why not upgrade the returner position and get depth at RB later. I don't exactly agree with it but I can see where this is coming from.I just don't understand how people think us realeasing an unneeded back would make us draft a WR

The proposition of losing Taylor gets me really scared now. Are we really going to introduce 2 foreign backs behind AD and hope to succeed? KEEP CHESTER TAYLOR."I hate when threads are destroyed by facts and logic."

Re: Maurice Hicks Released
I think Reynaud will be our return man. We will likely draft a running back. Hope he can block.

Re: Maurice Hicks Released
If I recall correctly (no guarantee there) Hicks came in from San Fran as the No.2 guy in the whole league in total return yards over 2 seasons.
Then he got hurt, and barely made the field all year...
I really like the sound of Harvin in our offense too, and I like your take on him being able to fill multiple backup roles...third RB, WR depth, and a shifty, speedy return option.
IF he takes the third RB slot, it leaves us room for our develpmental WR guys: Reynaud, Allison, and/or JJ.
The RB I want is that FB from LSU, the Mighty Quinn.
That dude can block!!
Probably around a 3rd or 4th round pick...?Control the line, control the time, and give your D a chance to shine!!

Seems to me Spielman has that dept under his perview......
Again, 2 bad signings.
Only reason I'm not up in arms like some is because they have made alot more good ones than bad my friend.
;DMany many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

"What really impressed the Vikings was that Hicks had two 55-yard kick returns against them in a 2007 game in San Francisco."
Based on this, we'd have a roster full of kick/punt returners ;D
I've been a Viking fan since I was just out of diapers, hopefully we get Super Bowl win before I go back in 'em.
