Matt Spaeth?

Assuming Greg Olsen is off the board by the 2nd round and we dont pick up a TE in FA, I would like to see the vikes take spaeth from the U of M late in the draft.
He always has been a good option for the gophers and would be a great addition for the minnesota faithful.
He's not the most athletic, but he does show some speed and great hands. Hes also an excellent blocker and we could use a good young TE with Wiggins out of the picture.

I know but do you really think Shiancoe is going to be the answer.  Besides we can use some more help at TE.  I personally dont know if Shiancoe can be our #1 TE hes been a back up for the giants his whole career.

Chester Taylor was a backup for the Ravens his whole career too.

I like that idea. I think a stud TE would be good in Chilly's offense. 7 might be high though.

I'd rather give Shank a chance first cause nobody is worth the 7th overall pick, the last prospect that is worth being picked that high was Vernon Davis last year. And i'm not too keen on drafting matt spaeth either. Too slow to strech the field, and we have a big target in Shank already. I'd rather take a chance with Michael Allan or Kevin Boss in later rounds

Olson ran faster than a lot of wr's did and he is 6'5 245
I think ran a 4.3? forty

He could really help our offense He is too fast for most linebackers
(hell he is too fast for a lot of corners also) He is way too
tall for most corners and safteys to cover

I believe the official time was 4.51.

And Olson is not a top 10 overall prospect, there's still his production question (granted his QB (Kyle Wright) sucked) and there's prospects like LaRon Landry or Amobi Okoye (I'm high on this guy) or even Jamaal anderson that would help our team more. Not that Olsen won't, but they're help our team more now. We signed Shank for $18 million and he's 99% gonna be our starter at tight end and practically eliminates TE from top need

Spaeth draws a crowd
Thursday, April 5th, 2007 by Kevin Seifert

According to our man Chip Scoggins, the Strib’s excellent Gophers football writer, a few of the Vikings’ heaviest hitters attended today’s personal workout for TE Matt Spaeth. The group included coach Brad Childress, VP of Player Personnel Rick Spielman and director of college scouting Scott Studwell.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.
