they had josh bullocks who had a decent/nice season
bulmer can clog up the middle and get pressure on the qb

Pissing on the Pack since 08'

I wanted to get all 7 rounds done this weekend but because of a slight degradation to my typing skills I only got 4 rounds done.
I will try to get the last 3 rounds done when my elbow heals.

With that said, a couple of things.........

    a.
I don't have any trades in this version.
Several teams like the Vikes and Atlanta could be players and move up/down to get players they are targeting who might not fall to them.
Its just to gol 'darnit hard to project team needs vs players to try to do trades as well.

    b.
I don't pick players cause they are from my favorite college or that they might be rated higher because of percieved talent.
I pick based on teams need, scheme they run and best player that fits that scheme.

    c.
If a guy has serious medical or personal issues I let him slide no matter how talented he might be.

In short, letme know what you think.
If you make a good argument with valid points I might use yor recommendation.

    Round 1 Pick
    1 Dolphins Chris Long, DE
    Signed 2 DT's during offseason.
Rumors of Taylor leaving. QB will be addressed later. Could go OT.
    2 Rams Vernon Gholston, DE
They signed Bell and resigned Pace which allows them to address DE. Dorsey issues still a concern so he slides.
    3 Falcons Jake Long, OT
Turner means they address other needs and McFadden slips. New GM is a Tuna disciple and he builds lines first.
    4 Raiders Glen Dorsey, DT
Al does the right things and gets Sapps replacement instead of taking McFadden.
    5 Chiefs Cedric Ellist, DT
With McFadden still on the board as well as Ryann trade offers could/would be entertained.
CB is a bigger need but Ellis is to hard to pass up.
    6 Jets Darren McFadden, RB
He won't get past the Jets.
By addressing their D a bit in FA they can take a RB here to help their young QB/Offense.
    7 Patriots(49ers) Leodis McKelvin, CB
I think they wanted Gohlston because of his flexibility but will replace Asante here.
OT could also be a possibility because of poor OL play on SB.
    8 Ravens Matt Ryan, QB
    No brainer.
    9 Bengals Kentwan Balmer, DT
Bengals start to retool their Defense and they start up front with a gol 'darnit go DT that will help them finally in stopping the run.
    10 Saints Keith Rivers, LB
CB could also be taken here but g*y was signed in FA and there is better value at CB later..
Add LB in case Vilma isnt a go.
    11 Bills Limas Sweed, WR
Issues around Kelley cause him to get passed for Sweed which will compliment Evans.
DE/DT could also be an option.
    12 Broncos Ryan Clady, OT
Addressed a lot of needs on Defense in FA allows them to snag a OT to keep Cutler upright for years.
Could be Otah but Clady seems to be a ZB guy.
    13 Panthers Derrick Harvey, DE/OLB
They can get a RB later.
    Peppers is a bigger issue.
    Take best DE left.
    14 Bears Jeff Otah, OT
RB's and WR's are a dime a dozen in this draft as are OT's but Otah is to good to
    pass up.
    15 Lions Chris Williams, OT
They addressed their secondary in FA and go for OL help here.
    RB could be another option.
    16 Cardinals Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB
They wish they could have got Fitz done sooner so they could have signed a few more FA's.
DRC is a perfect fit and will provide instant help.
17 Vikings Phillip Merling , DE
Although he isnt the edge rusher everyone wants he has the versatility to play all DL positions.
    18 Texans Rashard Mendenhall, RB
Texans finally solve their RB problems
    19 Eagles Mario Manningham, WR
Mario has some baggage but they gambled on TO once.
Kelly's knees cause him to slide still.
    20 Buccaneers DeSean Jackson, WR
    Bucs take the gamble.
    21 Redskins Kenny Phillips, S
They need a pass rusher opposite of Carter but opt for best S in the draft to replace Taylor.
22 Cowboys (Browns) Early Doucet, WR
I want to put a CB here but believe they will get the "Pole Boy" deal done.
    23 Steelers Brandon Albert, OG
Howie Long might like this guy but the Steelers draft him cause he can play both OG and OT.
    24 Titans James Hardy, WR
They get another weapon that will grow withVY if they can keep a Ocoord long enough to figure out a scheme.
    25 Seahawks Jordy
    Nelson, WR
    Replacment for Hackett.
    26 Jaguars Quenton Groves, OLB/DE
They fixed their WR issues during FA.
They land a replacement for McCray/Stroud.
    27 Chargers Johnathan Stewart, RB
They could goanywhere with this one.
Back up RB, depth at CB, DL….They steal Stewart here.
    28 Cowboys Felix Jones, RB
He gets a RB from his old college here.
29 49'rs (Colts) Devin Thomas, WR
Even though Bruce is teamed up with Martz, that is a bandaid and the 9'rs need more depth/talent to run the system.
    30 Packers Mike Jenkins, CB
Age of Woodson and Harris drive this pick not to mention they havetalent all over the place.
    31 Patriots Forfiet
Forfiet this pick and they lost in the SB.
    32 Giants Dan Conner, LB
A DT like Laws also makes sense but LB is more urgent.
    Round 2 Pick
    33 Dolphins Brian Brohm, QB
    34 Rams Reggie Smith, CB/S
    35 Falcons Chad Henne, QB
    36 Chiefs Brandon Flowers, CB
    37 Falcons Ray Rice, RB
    38 Jets Antoine Cason, CB
    39 Ravens Anthony Collins, OT
    40 49ers Gosder Cherilus, OT/OG
    41 Saints Fred Davis, TE
    42 Bills Aqip Talib, CB
    43 Broncos Andre Caldwell, WR
    44 Panthers Pat Sims, DT
    45 Bears Joe Flacco, QB
    46 Lions Calais Campbell, DE
    47 Bengals Charles Godfrey, CB
    48 Vikings Sam Baker, OT
49 Falcons (Texans) Trevor Laws, DT
    50 Eagles Lawrence Jackson, DE
    51 Cardinals Curtis Lofton, LB
    52 Redskins Erin Henderson, LB
    53 Buccaneers Carl Nicks, OT
    54 Steelers Dajuan Morgan, S
    55 Titans Jamaal Charles, RB
    56 Seahawks Martellus Bennett, TE
57 Packers (Browns) Darrell Robertson, DE/OLB
58 Dolphins (Chargers) Jerod Mayo, ILB
    59 Jaguars Simeon Castille, S
    60 Colts Earl Bennett, WR
    61 Packers John Carleson, TE
    62 Cowboys Terrell Thomas, CB
    63 Patriots Bruce Davis, LB
    64 Giants DeJaun Tribble, CB
    Round 3 Pick
    65 Dolphins Chris Johnson, RB
    66 Rams Mike Pollak, C
    67 Chiefs Oniel Cousins, OT
    68 Falcons Spencer Larson, ILB
69 Patriots (Raiders) Martin Rucker, TE
70 Panthers (Jets) John Greco, OG
    71 49ers Roy Schuening, OG
72 Bills (Ravens) Dustin Keller, TE

Sweed had worse injury problems than Kelly didn't he? Sweed almost cracks the top 10 and Kelly can't even go in the first 100?

Hey Marrdro. A couple of questions. Do you think they are ready to send McKinnie packing? If so...what do you think his worth is? If Williams is there at 17 would you take him over Merling? I personally would. Do you think Merling is better than Phillips for the future? I would prefer Phillips to be groomed by Sharper. Next year Udeze will be back and Merling will not be as valueable to are future as Phillips will be. In the event Udeze doesn't come back(God forbid), then look for his replacement.

Ditto. I can't see Malcolm Kelly getting out of the second round.
honestly, I don't see him getting out of the first round...

Re: Marrdros 2008 Mock Draft (4 Rounds)

Can't say I love it, but I can't say that you are wrong either.

The only pick that you have for the Vikes that I would be happy with is your second round choice of Baker, otherwise you have us passing on a lot of players that I think are better for us and have more value down the road.

I'll give you some examples of players I would rather have:

    First Round:
    Marr has DE Philip Merling
I'd rather have OT/G Branden Albert, QB Brian Brohm, CB Mike Jenkins, or WR Devin Thomas.

    Second Round:
    Marr has OT Sam Baker
I'm good with that, but would also be fine with DT Trevor Laws, OLB Erin Henderson, or S Dajuan Morgan.

    Third Round:
Marr has QB JD Booty and DT A. Rubin
I like DT Dre Moore, S Tom Zbikowski, C Steve Justice, and TE Brad Cottam

    Fourth Round:
    Marr has S/CB DJ Wolfe
I'd take CB Tracey Porter, DE Jason Jones, QB Josh Johnson, or OT Duane Brown instead, and would consider DE Brian Johnston very hard.

Again, not knocking your selections at all, just think that these players would fit in here and personally believe they will be very good.
Looking at the way you have the picks going, I would much rather have our first 5 picks be:

    Option A

    Option B

    1.
    Branden Albert

    Brian Brohm
    2.
    Trevor Laws

    Sam Baker
    3a. Tom Zbikowski

    Dre Moore
    3b. Josh Johnson

    Brad Cottam
    4.
    Brian Johnston

Brian Johnston (can you tell he is my favorite sleeper?)

The draft is less than a month away!
Rock out with your cock out!!!

Re: Marrdros 2008 Mock Draft (4 Rounds)

    Marr, thanks and nicely done.
I can see the first 3 picks and the fifth.
The only one I would question is Ahtyba Rubin in the 3rd, he played OT in Juco, could be a long-term project...
Regarding pick number I could see the Vikes taking Xavier Adibi as a terrific talent and keeping a great stockpile of fast, talented linebackers, certainly he could contribute as a Special Teamer.
I agree with you in that they won't go after a center in this spot, I don't see it either.
What about Cliff Avril in this spot?
Certainly a situationaly pass rusher, smaller than ideal, but, speed kills - kid can rush the passer.
He is more than likely an OLB in a 3-4 scheme, however, I think the kid can play with his hand on the ground if needed.

Completely agree with Merling, Baker and Booty...would love to see it play out that way, and, think it is very possible.
Also like Wolfe in the 4th.

The only other thing that kind of stood out was Malcomb Kelly dropping from a top 5 WR on virtually all draft boards to the #106 pick.
    Definitely don't see that.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

Re: Marrdros 2008 Mock Draft (4 Rounds)

I would like us to take trade out 1 of our thirds to get a 2nd next year.
There are alot of Safteys coming out next year.

    1) Name I would like at DE
    George Selvie USF
    6'4 240 as a SO
HE has a couple of years to put on the lbs but he had
31.5 tackles for a loss and 14 sacks
