I wanted to get all 7 rounds done this weekend but because of a slight degradation to my typing skills I only got 4 rounds done.
I will try to get the last 3 rounds done when my elbow heals.
With that said, a couple of things.........
I don't have any trades in this version.
Several teams like the Vikes and Atlanta could be players and move up/down to get players they are targeting who might not fall to them.
Its just to gol 'darnit hard to project team needs vs players to try to do trades as well.
I don't pick players cause they are from my favorite college or that they might be rated higher because of percieved talent.
I pick based on teams need, scheme they run and best player that fits that scheme.
If a guy has serious medical or personal issues I let him slide no matter how talented he might be.
In short, letme know what you think.
If you make a good argument with valid points I might use yor recommendation.
Round 1 Pick
1 Dolphins Chris Long, DE
Signed 2 DT's during offseason.
Rumors of Taylor leaving. QB will be addressed later. Could go OT.
2 Rams Vernon Gholston, DE
They signed Bell and resigned Pace which allows them to address DE. Dorsey issues still a concern so he slides.
3 Falcons Jake Long, OT
Turner means they address other needs and McFadden slips. New GM is a Tuna disciple and he builds lines first.
4 Raiders Glen Dorsey, DT
Al does the right things and gets Sapps replacement instead of taking McFadden.
5 Chiefs Cedric Ellist, DT
With McFadden still on the board as well as Ryann trade offers could/would be entertained.
CB is a bigger need but Ellis is to hard to pass up.
6 Jets Darren McFadden, RB
He won't get past the Jets.
By addressing their D a bit in FA they can take a RB here to help their young QB/Offense.
7 Patriots(49ers) Leodis McKelvin, CB
I think they wanted Gohlston because of his flexibility but will replace Asante here.
OT could also be a possibility because of poor OL play on SB.
8 Ravens Matt Ryan, QB
9 Bengals Kentwan Balmer, DT
Bengals start to retool their Defense and they start up front with a gol 'darnit go DT that will help them finally in stopping the run.
10 Saints Keith Rivers, LB
CB could also be taken here but g*y was signed in FA and there is better value at CB later..
Add LB in case Vilma isnt a go.
11 Bills Limas Sweed, WR
Issues around Kelley cause him to get passed for Sweed which will compliment Evans.
DE/DT could also be an option.
12 Broncos Ryan Clady, OT
Addressed a lot of needs on Defense in FA allows them to snag a OT to keep Cutler upright for years.
Could be Otah but Clady seems to be a ZB guy.
13 Panthers Derrick Harvey, DE/OLB
They can get a RB later.
Peppers is a bigger issue.
Take best DE left.
14 Bears Jeff Otah, OT
RB's and WR's are a dime a dozen in this draft as are OT's but Otah is to good to
15 Lions Chris Williams, OT
They addressed their secondary in FA and go for OL help here.
RB could be another option.
16 Cardinals Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB
They wish they could have got Fitz done sooner so they could have signed a few more FA's.
DRC is a perfect fit and will provide instant help.
17 Vikings Phillip Merling , DE
Although he isnt the edge rusher everyone wants he has the versatility to play all DL positions.
18 Texans Rashard Mendenhall, RB
Texans finally solve their RB problems
19 Eagles Mario Manningham, WR
Mario has some baggage but they gambled on TO once.
Kelly's knees cause him to slide still.
20 Buccaneers DeSean Jackson, WR
Bucs take the gamble.
21 Redskins Kenny Phillips, S
They need a pass rusher opposite of Carter but opt for best S in the draft to replace Taylor.
22 Cowboys (Browns) Early Doucet, WR
I want to put a CB here but believe they will get the "Pole Boy" deal done.
23 Steelers Brandon Albert, OG
Howie Long might like this guy but the Steelers draft him cause he can play both OG and OT.
24 Titans James Hardy, WR
They get another weapon that will grow withVY if they can keep a Ocoord long enough to figure out a scheme.
25 Seahawks Jordy
Replacment for Hackett.
26 Jaguars Quenton Groves, OLB/DE
They fixed their WR issues during FA.
They land a replacement for McCray/Stroud.
27 Chargers Johnathan Stewart, RB
They could goanywhere with this one.
Back up RB, depth at CB, DL….They steal Stewart here.
28 Cowboys Felix Jones, RB
He gets a RB from his old college here.
29 49'rs (Colts) Devin Thomas, WR
Even though Bruce is teamed up with Martz, that is a bandaid and the 9'rs need more depth/talent to run the system.
30 Packers Mike Jenkins, CB
Age of Woodson and Harris drive this pick not to mention they havetalent all over the place.
31 Patriots Forfiet
Forfiet this pick and they lost in the SB.
32 Giants Dan Conner, LB
A DT like Laws also makes sense but LB is more urgent.
