Maroney completes Pro Day
NFL | Maroney completes Pro Day
Thu, 23 Mar 2006 19:13:51 -0800
Sid Hartman, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota RB Laurence Maroney was the feature attraction at Minnesota's Pro Day Thursday, March 23. Even though he's recovering from a pulled hamstring, Maroney put on quite a show running and catching passes, a performance that had the scouts very much impressed. Maroney, who has put on 12 pounds and now weighs 216, said the process of working out long days in Arizona has been hard work, but a fun process. The hamstring problem that slowed him down at the end of his college career and is troubling him again could cost him in the draft. The Minnesota Vikings and head coach Brad Childress were one of the teams in attendance.

Maroney's results
Minnesota RB Laurence Maroney worked out March 23 on campus. Maroney (6-0 1/8, 215) ran indoors on FieldTurf. He ran one 40 -- times were anywhere from 4.47 to 4.49 -- then passed on the second because of a strained hamstring. He did not run the shuttles or the three-cone drill. He had a 35½-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-3 broad jump and 21 bench presses. Maroney did not participate in Minnesota's Pro Day on March 6 due to a strained hamstring.

Re: Maroney completes Pro Day
I hope we dont take him. It will be a wasted pick when Chester Taylor is fully capable of getting the job done. Take Ernie Sims or Chad Greenway...not a runningback.

If the hammy scares people off and he drops to us in the second he would be well worth it!
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

No need for Maroney.
I think Chestor Taylor is going to suprise everybody!
If they are available, Sims and Greenway are also on my top priority list.Retired 12/21/08

Re: Maroney completes Pro Day
A pulled hamstring shouldn't be a reason to pass on a player or drop his stock, right? or am I missing something? even if he had problems with it last year. I mean, Moss had them all the time I suppose.. but is it a chronic issue?
and yes, we do not need a RB AT ALL. Taylor, Moore and Fason shall be just fine. Taylor will get the bulk of the carries, Moore will spell him, and Fason will handle the 3rd down stuff. I know Fason is capable of more, but that role is fine for him now. any rookie RB will just be behind on the learning curve.

IF we take an RB, I want it to be DeAngelo Williams...but I would take Maroney if DeAngelo was not available.
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE
