I hope I don't get in trouble for it, but I am gonna say something dumb like this for every time someone proposes getting a derilect of a vet that is released.

Of course it will only be for the ones that don't fit our scheme, are old and broken and have no chance of helping the team.

The ones that fit or would contribute I won't get pissy over.

Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

    Ah I see.
So what I'm getting out of this statement is you don't think Rivera will fit the scheme in MN.
    Alright Marrdro, IT's ON!!!!!!!!!!!
    (Notice I used caps)
Now you can criticize me for that like we all did that newbie
    ;D

I do think if healthy Rivera would be a good pick up.
He's a good experienced lineman and even though he wouldn't be a starter he would be a good back up and insurance in case of injury.
He's not that expensive and it's not like we don't have the room on the roster or cap space.
I don't think he's a huge need but a solid pick up (even if Madden doesn't say so).
Did I just say that?????? :-[

    Hmmmmmmm.
You might be onto something here......

Here is a link to his injury reports.

    http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/playerI...tegoryId=69694

Alot of discussions on his knees but I only see that from the start of career to 2005.
Might not be as bad as some think.
    :

He is only 34 and doesn't seem to tip the scales as high as some of our linemand (304). Maybe that means we are gonna get away from the big fast guys and go to old, light bad knee'd slow guys
    :

    78 Matt Birk C 6'4" 309
    62 Ryan Cook C 6'6" 328
    64 Anthony Herrera G 6'2"
    79 Artis Hicks G 6'4" 335

    76 Steve Hutchinson G 6'5"
    72 Marcus Johnson T 6'6" 321
    46 Cullen Loeffler C 6'5" 241
    74 Bryant McKinnie T 6'8" 335

He was only scheduled to make
$9,130,280 in 2005 so how much more would he really cost in 2007.
Heck we have lots of cap room.
    No need to worry there
    :

That would be his 13th year if I'm not mistaken.
    Not that old really.
Especially for a cheap backup that is coming in to teach our young lineman the ZB scheme, alleviating the coaching staff from having to do thier jobs.
    ;D

Lets not forget that Dallas let him go probably because they had so many seasoned vets on thier team at that position and not because he couldn't get the job done anymore.
Seriously, good guys get cut loose all the time.
Especially on teams that have young QB's like Dalas that they are trying to protect
    ;D

    67 Joe Berger

    G 6'5" 305 2 years experience
    69 Trey Darilek
    G 6'5" 310 3 years experience
    65 Andre Gurode G 6'4" 312 5 years experience
    71 Cory Procter
    G 6'4" 305 2 years experience
    62 Marco Rivera
    G 6'4" 309 11 years experience

Quite a big difference in ages compared to ours.

    Your right, this is fun.
    ;D

Seriously though, I think we will pick someone up but probably not the first broken one let loose.

Actually I don't think Dallas has cut him loose yet but there is a good possibilty.
    I wouldn't mind him as a Vike.
