Manning Draft Precedent - Lienert?
It is sad to here, but the media is already "telling" Matt that he should pull an Elway or a Manning.
Right now it is looking as if the Saints would be in line for him at the no. 2 spot in the draft. Since Brooks has been on the outs, it is likely that they would be interested.
If they are in line to draft him, should he demand a trade????
Re: Manning Draft Precedent - Lienert?
I doubt he would do that.
Re: Manning Draft Precedent - Lienert?
A big USC booster told me just the same thing...that Leinart will refuse to be drafted by the Saints. Now IF they were to be moved to LA, it might be a different story.
Re: Manning Draft Precedent - Lienert?
One of the guys on ESPN (the guy who sits with Ditka on NFL Monday Quarterback) said that it's unlikely that Leinart will demand a trade. He said he's got too much character to do that.
Re: Manning Draft Precedent - Lienert?
I doubt he will do it too.. Doesn't wanna go through all the garbage of demanding a trade

Re: Manning Draft Precedent - Lienert?
I would hope that he would not do that, he was the one that chose to go back for one more year to build his stock. He already had his choice in a way.
I think that it could very well happen.
I think that one reason I let Manning slide a little is exactly what is a possibility going into this years playoffs. The Brothers didn't want to have to knock each other out of the playoffs. By Eli landing in NYG, it gives them a chance to play in a SB against each other. May never happen, but atleast it is a possibility.
Lienert needs to MAN up and play for the team that drafts him.
Mute point until it actually happens, but I brought it up anyway.
Re: Manning Draft Precedent - Lienert?
Not only do I think he won't do it, but I also believe it would be a mistake on his part. Deuce will be back next year, and he'll still have Joe Horn and Dante Stallworth to throw to. It could be a good offense, but everyone's been saying that for years with the Saints, so who knows.
Re: Manning Draft Precedent - Lienert?
they talked about this on PTI today. i wouldnt want to play for the saints, an organization that doesnt even know where they are going to be palying next year. mabye if they become the LA saints, then i would sign up. but otherwise i would go else where. like miami, nice and warm.
Re: Manning Draft Precedent - Lienert?
I can understand not wanting to play for a team at the bottom, but parity is what the NFL is all about so i hate it when players demand trades right out of the draft. Who are you to demand anything? Besides a high pick you are nothing in the NFL, now go prove it to everybody that you are something before demanding anything.
