Anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?
I don't know if the Kittens would trade to us, but I say we make a push for Calvin.
Re: Lions would like to trade down #2 NFL Draft pick
I thought someone would soon be thinking that.
I don't think that so much. I think that the Lions are thinking, lets send out a trial balloon to find out what the Browns and the Bucs are thinking.

Who knows with them
They will probably draft Calvin, then in the 2nd and 3rd rounds get Sidney Rice and Harry Douglas.

I can't see a GM - even an idiot like Millen - trading within your own division like that.

why not? its not like they're just swapping picks. the lions would obviously get a couple more picks. if they're not enamored w/ a guy like johnson what do they care if they trade his rights, are still able to get the guy they want AND get extra picks?

Hmmmm.....
This could be interesting.
If we trade up and those god damn Raiders take Calvin Johnson, I don't know what I'll do with myself.

I doubt it would happen.
When is the last time you have heard of a trade between ANY of the teams in the NFC north.
Personally I can't think of any.
Look at it form Detroits point of view.
If they trade with us, they might get an extra pick and the players they wanted, but they also helped improve a team they have to face twice a year.
If they trade outside the division, or better yet, with the AFC, then they still get extra picks and the players they wanted... but they would only have to face the team they improved once a season at most, or not at all for a few years.
When we traded Randy to Oakland, we did it with the full knowledge that we wouldn't play him in the regualr season until 2007.

Wow,
Not sure how we could/would swing that without breaking the bank.
My chart shows the #2 pick is worth 2600 points.
Our number 7 is worth 1500 points.
We would have to give up at least our first 4 picks plus a future pick or try to package some players that we have that could fill some of thier holes (QB/OL/CB).
Throw in the whole intradivision arguement and I just can't see this happening.

I wonder how much Smoot would be worth to them...since Dre Bly won't be a Lion next season!
