    Lets talk wide outs!

Ok it apprears like their will be some real decent talent at the wide out coming out of the college ranks.
Ok,lets say the vikes take a wide out, who is the best fit for us right now.
I listed five potential guys whjo i watched play over the season that i like.

    Calvin Johnson (6.5 235)lbs GT 76 1202 15 TD's

    Ted Ginn Jr (6.0, 185 lbs) OSU 59, 781 yards, 9 td

    Anthony Gonzalez (6.0 195lbs) 51 734, 8 td's

    Dwayne Jarrett (6.5 215lbs) USC 70, 1015 yards, 12 Td's

    Jeff Samardzija (6.5 218lbs) 78 Rec 1017 yards 12 TDs

The guy who I like is of course
CJ, but him being availble is not real likely at the 7th pick. so...

Here is my wish, see what you think.
I would like a big strong wide out who can pull a few yards after the catch.
It seems like they need to be physical.
I watched all these guys play and felt the most phyical one that might still be available is
    Dwayne Jarrett.
He is use to the spot light and has been playing at a high level all year long and his numbers remined strong despite a lot of people graduating.

I also am really intrigued by Anthony Gonzalez, the kid has got a real big heart,
seems real polished, good mechanics catching the ball away from his body, and also an elite route runner, with decent speed.
I'm somewhat scared of his size, but then again look at
    Steve Smith.

Ok what do you guys/gals think?
Any takers on either of these guys,k if you like someone else lets discuss it!

All I see on that list is CJ.

Everybody else is like Troy Williamson to me.

I like Calvin Johnson myself, and with Russell going into the draft now, he may still be available at #7.. If not, I hope we get Dwayne Jarrett.. They are similar in size, and had similar numbers this season.. I just hope that whoever we pick, helps us right away..

Who's the fastest outa all of 'em?

My impression is that Ted Ginn Jr is, we'll have to wait for the combine to come though.

Reason I wanna know why is, won't Childress go for the fastest guys over anything else?

That's at least what I think he's doing with the tight ends. Why else would Wiggins not be used more often?
I could be very wrong though.

    4th round- Steve Breaston

    Re: Lets talk wide outs!

I provided a link on each of the top 5 coming out along with the "negative" para out of each right up.

All of this will change of course during the tests/drills/workouts leading up to the draft but think it is a pretty fair assessment of each player based on what he has done on the field.

    http://www.footballsfuture.com/2007/...n_johnson.html
Even though he makes the big play routine, he still has a tendency to drop the easy one every now and then, but that is nitpicking. Johnson is a phenomenal prospect, and lacks nothing as it projects to the next level.

    http://www.footballsfuture.com/2007/...e_jarrett.html
Jarrett still tends to try and run without the ball at times. He’ll drop a couple balls because he does not look it all the way in. He’s also a long strider, so his ability to make a defender miss with the ball in his hands is not really a big part of his game. While he can make the grab and take a hit, he is not as physical as you would think a 6'5 receiver would be.

    http://www.footballsfuture.com/2007/.../ted_ginn.html
Despite the big plays, Ginn is still inconsistent at receiver. His hands need to become more consistent, and he needs work running routes. He has a very thin build and lacks the strength to be a threat over the middle.

    http://www.footballsfuture.com/2007/...amardzija.html
The only physical flaw with Samardzija is that he isn’t the fleetest of foot. He is not slow, but he is not a player that you will see make big plays after the catch on a consistent basis. His athleticism allows him to be more than just a possession guy, but he probably will not be a big playmaker. He has also signed a contract with the
CUBS and wants to play both football and baseball.

    http://www.footballsfuture.com/2007/...ayne_bowe.html
There isn’t anything Bowe lacks physically, aside from pure burner speed. He has more than enough speed especially at his size, but he’s not a burner. Bowe has also had some issue in the past of playing every down with the same intensity level.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Remind anybody of someone? (with the exception of making big plays anyways)
