The fox numbers say 2007, but I think they are actually 2006 if the USA Today site is accurate.

How many snaps did he [s]even[/s] take this year?

He has been injured a lot!

It isn't my decision to make and I will be happy either way.
It really depends on how we "could" and if we will spend his $$ elsewhere.
    JMHO!
I think he missed a game or two a few times during the year.... not sure about how many he actually played in.
However, he was in on a GREAT deal of plays during the games he played.

I think it really comes down to how much he wants to play for us next year.
I am not trying to be an donkey butt here, just trying to make a point.
Most posts are based on opinions!

Is that your opinion or fact?
    Quantify "GREAT deal" for me!
    Opinion.
    Pure opinion.
In my opinion, "great deal" of plays would have counted for every time we had a fullback in (that he was healthy) - I don't have the statistics on it, but I would think that would have accounted for approximately half of our non punting/kicking downs.
We probably ran those formations 1-2 times for every 3 down set we had.
I want to believe he was in there on most 1st downs...

When looking at those numbers, realize a lot of those include incentives...

T-Will did not likely reach a lot of those incentives... workouts and what not yes, but productivity, I doubt it....

    That can't be right.
Makes no sense that TWill made that much...

Players are paid on a 17-week basis (16 games plus the bye week). Based on that formula, Williamson lost $25,588.24 by leaving. His base salary this season is $435,000.
    http://nc.startribune.com/blogs/vikings/?p=1117

Perhaps, that is his cap number?
Did he get a huge signing bonus?
Williamson's salary is not too much next year - about $900,000.
The other part of that cap hit (about $3 million) is from bonuses.
Specifically, there is a little (relatively speaking) allocated to a workout bonus (I think $250,000), and I think the rest is a roster bonus.
That means that we get to clear almost the entire $4 million of cap space if we cut him before free agency starts.
Wilf also gets to avoid paying him about $4 million in cash.

A more detailed breakdown and discussion of the team's 2008 salaries is in this thread, with most of the legwork done by JUCJ85.

As far as Richardson goes, the guy is far too good to just let go.
Modern cap economics dictate that you have to keep your talented players if you want to get better, because the cap is high enough for every other team to retain their good players.
As long as he wants to play for us, I would suggest we pay him to be here.
    His injuries don't bother me.
He's been unlucky the past few years but as a rule has not been injury prone.
Over 13 years he has played in 186 of 208 possible games, and only in 2006 did he miss more than 3 games in one year.

Dontarius Thomas is in the same boat in my book.
Too good to let go if you can help it.
The problem is I don't think we'll be able to help it in his case.
Facing at least 3 years sitting on the bench is probably too much to swallow for a pretty talented guy in the prime of his career.
When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

T-RIch is worth every penny he makes... he's an older guy so he's not worried about a contract and i think the vikes will work it out so he stays....

My original post didn't say anything about wanting to get rid of him.
He can stay for all I care.
I mentioned worth, which isn't limited to just dollars.

I have a difficult time keeping older guys on the team.
My stance is the same for Pat Williams.
We don't get rid of all old guys based on age, but where we have opportunities to work the young guys into the system.
I am thinking about the future, not just next season.
I don't think we are a contender next year and I don't think T-Rich will be here the season after next.

I guess some would say "I don't think," but I think I think sometimes.

I feel you... but i don't think you bench/let a pro-bowl caliber talent walk away who makes $1.3Mill to get some back up dude playing time... just doesn't make sense..

Without Richardson our running game will not be as good.

Richardson is one of the best fullbacks in the league. He can make plays, or make blocks. If he wants to give it another go we should bring him back. We do have a backups in Dugan or Sauce if he goes down. He's worth the gamble.

Who says we will keep Jimmy K or Dugan?
