LaRon Landry is the pick according to Morris

Mike Morris ( KFAN ) said this morning - and he has been right 7 years in a row - that the Vikes will select LaRon Landry, FS outta LSU.

    Not a popular pick.
It'll be interesting to see the fan reaction at Winter Park if that is the pick.

So, signing all of those safeties in FA was just a smokescreen, eh?
Or are we gonna convert LaRon or one of the other safties to WR?

Personally I'd rather see Quinn or Adrian Peterson.

Methinks it's going to be LaRon Landry.

    We'll see.

    Dwight Smith would be traded.
Look it up in the dictionary under the definition of "Fact"
    ;D

Besides didn't your read the "Landry?" thread?
According to "Industry sources in the Minnesota area"
the Vikings are stongly believed to be planning to pick safety LaRon Landry with the No. 7 overall selection in the draft.

id love if we went in that direction with the pick..it wouldnt pay off right away, but a year or two down the road when sharper is done, this guy is gonna be a huge game changer

I would be pissed if they picked Landry.

Don't get me wrong, I think he is going to be a good player, but to draft somone at #7 when we could certainly trade down and draft for need is dumb IMO. We have 4 legit safeties....what would we do with 5?

legit safeties, but no superstars..sharper is no longer all pro quality..hes still great, but not all pro..sharper also only has 1 or 2 years left..all the safeties we have other than sharper all have their faults (williams and blue are run stoppers, smith doesnt tackle well at all, doss is coming off serious injury probably will be a special teamer), while landry gives us the chance to insert a potential all around superstar

Problem is that we don't know for sure if we can get proper value from someone to trade down...so we have to prepare for the possibility that we will have to use our pick at #7.
I would be happy that we got Landry...but not happy that we have all those other safties on the roster...safties that we would get NO value for and would most likely have to cut...unless a couple of them could play cornerback instead.

And in case my theory of Smith being traded doesn't come to be, somone earlier pointed out that he used to play nickle cornerback for the Bucaroos.
