Re: Kipers' Latest Mock Draft 2/6

The big thing I saw was Brady Quinn drop to #9.
If he is still available at 7 overall i would take him for sure!
He will be a great NFL quarterback and he will win championships.
I love TJ and h is upside but I think that Brady Quinn as a rookie would be more prepared to lead our team than TJ in his second year.
IMO obviously but if Quinn is available at 7 we would be dumb not to take him.
Then you look to free agency and your second and third rounds to pic up a reciever another TE and a DE

I still maintain we should stay put and draft CJ if he falls, otherwise trade down and pick Jarrett and address either 2 of OL, DE, CB/S or WR in the second round.

Another Steve Smith? What do those two players have in common?
Smith is a totally different player than Ginn.
Ginn relies on his speed, which is not going to be as a effective in the NFL.
    Smith plays in the air.
Ginn is not going to be a top receiver in the NFL.
His ball skills in the air are similar to a #82 the Vikings wasted a top ten pick on.

    PLEASE NO GINN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or anynother Troy Williamson. A somewhat undersized, speedy, "play maker" that isn't a #1 or #2 receiver right off the bat. No thanks!
That's the thing about the draft.
A lot of the time, it's hard to tell what you're going to get.
Perhaps he is the next Steve Smith, or maybe you're right, Troy Williamson coming around again.
    Calvin Johnson, maybe Mike Williams?
Who knows, all we can do is take what we know and make a guess that we THINK will help us the most.
Ive seen Ginn play every week.
I KNOW he would not help us as much as Calvin Johnson.

Re: Kipers' Latest Mock Draft 2/6

Whether CJ, Jarrett, or Ginn eventually turn into top receivers or not is moot.
The real question is whether or not any of them can contribute at a high level this season.

I think CJ is a first year impact player.
He is one of the few WRs that could pull that off though.
Most WRs need a year, if not more, to adjust to the NFL.

Jarrett - possibly, but it is much more of a crap shoot.

Ginn - no way in hell will he be able to contribute this year.
I have reservations about Ginn's effectiveness in the NFL ever, and it will take him a while to figure out that speed alone won't cut it in the NFL.

I tend to agree with ItalianStallion.
If either CJ or Joe Thomas fall to number 7, take him.
Otherwise there is simply nobody worth picking at number 7 for us.

Quinn? I highly doubt that they ould invest in a #1 pick at QB with what they gave up to get TJ. That would be almost like starting over. If they get a QB then they pick up a Vet like Garcia, Plummer or Bledsoe who are at the end of their careers but could probably
give some solid contributions for s year or 2 and give some much needed tutoring for TJ.

Never happen. We have to trade up and give up picks, man it would be worth it!
    i agree..get it done!

Oh my lord, wouldn't that be a nightmare...picking up a QB less mobile than Johnson.

Just the thought of it makes my eyeballs scream.

With a top 10 or 15 pick you need to take the best player available.
You can not draft on needs and hope that the player works out.
