Jim Souhan: Vikings defense in good hands even without departed Tomlin

    http://www.startribune.com/150/story/1330646.html

His leaving wasn't the team's death knell. Let's see what '07 brings.

There is one perceived reason for pessimism regarding the Vikings, though, that may not have legs -- the idea, once espoused here, that the loss of popular defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin was a death blow.

i think our down DC is going to be great, he comes from a good organization and from everything i've read from him he seems like a solid coach, i'm not worried about it

Besides, as much as i liked Tomlin, remember, he was a "defensive backs coach" that led us to the 31st worst passing defense

    Thanks COJO.

Although I agree with the idea behind this article, this guy is a hack.

Case in point (not even gonna address his obvious hate for the Chiller)

Tomlin's defense ranked first against the run for three reasons: Tomlin's emphasis on that phase of defense, the remarkable play of Pat Williams and opponents' willingness to gain all of their yards through the air in the second half of the season.
I'm sure K-will is happy to see that Phat Pat carried the load.
