MANKATO, Minn.  Rested and admittedly a bit rusty, defensive end Jared Allen went through the first practice of his first training camp with the Vikings on Friday morning....

"I'm trying to get a couple picks to the house.""First, it's to be a good teammate, be a team leader and to be productive," he said. "I'm not good looking, so they didn't bring me here to be the model of the franchise. They brought me here to produce and produce wins and to work with my teammates to make myself better and make them better. That's what my role is. My role is to win games."

Gotta love that attitude. At a time when some veterans might be grumbling about training camp, he's making it fun for himself and those around him. Can't wait to see this defensive line in action.Minnesota Vikings' Jared Allen already one of the guys

What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. Its the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"

Love it when a Vet acts like a Vet and leads from the front/by example.
On a side note, I also love the fact that JA, like all the other Vets brought in this year are at/around the same age/year group as most of the youngsters on this team.
Seems to me we have a damn nice core (Big Core at that) of players who fit the scheme and will fulfill thier current contract and should garner serious consideration for extensions as they approach the end of thier current contract.
Ole Bryzcheapski is gonna be damn busy in about 4 years or so.
;DMany many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: Jared Allen already one of the guys
I like this guy more and more ever since he came here.
He knows how to act in front of the cameras, among his team mates, and of course... on the field.
What more can you ask for a guy?
I like that he is more comfortable with our D-linemen than he was in Kansas City. Pat and Brian seems to me as the two guys he has really connected with over here.
