Apart from a 2006 cap number that exceeds $13 million, the offer sheet contains a provision that makes the entire deal guaranteed if Hutchinson at any point becomes anything other than the highest paid player on the team.
    WOW!

So he is going to be our highest paid player or we guarantee that he gets every penny of his contract.

Career ending injury, we still pay him, it still counts against our books??????

    That is the Poison Pill.

The only difference I can tell right now, PURELY GUESS WORK, is that Alexander is the highest paid player on the Hawks, so that would make all the money in the contract Guaranteed to Hutch. ???????????

Help me out with this one......
Snow, his contract will be guaranteed only if and when we ever sign a player who will make more that he is, on our team..

Says nothing about injuries, but the Seahawks to match our offer, would have to guarantee the contract from day one, because Shaun and Jones already make more a year than our contract offers Steve...

bottom line, it's going to be really tough on the Hawks to match our offer now....

I'de also like to say at this time, being a former O and D lineman, when I used to play organized ball.

I think it's about time some of the Highest Caliber Linesmen get recognized for their skills and dedication and IMPORTANCE to the team..

Steve Hutchinson is by far the most talented OG in the NFL today....He should make the big bucks with some guarantees....

This is the best I've felt about one of our Guards since the Randal McDaniel days.........

We will be like a juggernaut running down the field.....No D Line will stop our push.....

The bad thing is I think they could argue this and could hold this one up in arbatration for a long while, even past the draft so that the Vikings would not be sure of things even through the draft.

That would hurt them as much as the Vikes though. I don' t see this happening.

Whoa the Purple Crew is playing HARDBALL on this one. It certainly seems that Hutch wants to be here. Does anyone know more background on this deal, was there any bad blood with Hutch and the Sea-birds or did Wilf and crew just do one heck of a job of selling Hutch on coming to Minny?
At last month's Pro Bowl, Hutchinson told The Times he wished to remain a Seahawk.

Whoa this could backfire so if the Vikes say sign a new top player to a larger contract then Hutchinson's money is guaranteed for us too? God that could be a huge cap hit

    Mike
I don't see that happening, looks like all our big money positions are already almost filled. And even our first round draft pic won't get that kind of JING...

This tells me one thing for sure, Drew Brees isn't coming here for sure....
But could our first-rounder get a chance to date Jing-Jing?

The thing we're missing is that Daunte has a bigger deal than this already! Despite everything, $102 million over 10 years is more than $49 million over 7 years..

This is the biggest clue yet that Daunte's gone before that Roster Bonus of his is due on the 17th.. Otherwise Hutchinson's contract is guaranteed with us!
