    He is my thoughts.

I think we get it done for a first and a 2nd next year.

That will leave us with a:
    2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 6th ,7th
I think the draft monkeys will work their magic and give up our 3rd this draft to get our 2rd rounder back next year. We may draft up to get an extra 4th.
I would be happy with that but also wouldn't beeeeyyyyatch if we went into the draft with:

    3rd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 6th ,7th

We could add some quality depth to several key positions with those picks and even move up a couple of times.
    What about packaging
Early third and 5th to get into the 2nd
Late 3rd and 4th to get into the 2nd
    So we look like

    2nd, 2nd 6th, 6th, 7th
Too much in between picks for you?
I am not against going alot of rounds and not drafting as long as they get the guys they target.
My point is that regardless of what it takes to get Jared we still have a good mix of picks to get good guys in the rounds that we have picks or package a couple and move up and get a guy we might want that we feel another team ahead of us is targeting.

Lets not forget that we could be sitting there wanting a guy (say a Rice kindof guy) and we feel that he will be there a few picks later and we let a team move up into our spot for a extra pick or two and move down and still get the guy.

    Sound familiar?
    ;D

Again, gonna be fun to watch ole Ricky (Not the Chiller) work the draft again this year.

What would it take to trade up with San Diego?
They need some extra picks, so maybe we could get into the 1st?
A long shot, but may be possible.
Especially if a guy like Gosder Cherilus is still around.
Another long shot, but it's what I'd love to see and it would make a north of the border draft party more interesting.

According to the Profootballweekly webpage all that it should take is our First round this year #17, and a second or third round pick in 2009.
For Jared Allen to come on to our team for that little of a price, we'd be retarded not to accept it.
That'll give us three pro bowl lineman on d and we still have a great selection of draft picks.
A QB, OT, WR, and DB and we have ourselves a contender this year.
One more week and we'll see magic happening.
    Skol!

A very interesting read my friend.

I would love to get a look at thier value board and see if they have alot of defensive guys rated higher than alot of offensive players this year.

My guess is that like most of the value boards you see us yutz fans do, Merling is right up there.

"It's amazing. They're not a playoff team, but they don't have a lot of needs. Yeah, they could use a defensive end, but after that, where's the pressing need on this team?
Thats the fun/depressing part of our team, we're pretty much set... a couple key additions to our team and we're ready baby!

you mean its fun in the offseason, when we're speculating on how awesome we'll be, but depressing once the season starts and we're shitting the bed.

something like that.... but i'm as optimistic and excited to see what this team can do than I have been since we had Carter & Moss..

Re: How Would Allen change FA and the draft?

Perfection, in my opinion, would be this:

Goodell steps to the podium, announces a trade that has been done all week, and says we traded KC our pick.. they pick WHOEVER (doesn't matter)... details of the trade are later announced.

    Why?
Because we just put every other team at a disadvantage for their last week of preparation and it would seriously shuffle draft boards.
Now I'm guessing many teams are planning for this scenario BUT STILL... you never know.

    Trust me, I'm a doctor.
