    How The Vikings Draft

Last year, just prior to me joining the Vikings Gab team, I remember seeing a segment about the Vikings utilization of the “horizontal” draft board. It is a neat concept that does not force a team to draft for need, but does allow team needs to be taken into consideration for decisions.

    Re:How The Vikings Draft

Childress’ opinion, along with other coaches, obviously carries plenty of weight in this process.

“You don’t want to bring in a guy that the coaches don’t want,” Spielman said. “That’s where you kind of get into some scenarios that, ‘OK, why don’t we want this guy in? Does he fit our offense? Is it the type of character guy [we want]? That’s why I said we do this as a whole … everybody gets to weigh in their opinions and we decide what’s best for the organization and we’ll go from there.”

    Re:How The Vikings Draft

The Vikings' player personnel boss works with coaches, executives and scouts by sorting out different opinions.

Few things can destroy a team's draft like a conceited executive who stops listening because he knows his finger is the one resting on the trigger.

"I've been to places where there have been egos involved," said Rick Spielman, Vikings vice president of player personnel. "All of a sudden, the ego takes over and your vision narrows because you're thinking, 'I'm going to prove these guys wrong.'"

    Re:How The Vikings Draft

Spielman said he wouldn't pick a player Childress isn't comfortable with.
Wait a minute, wait a minute, lets break this down a bit......

Spielman, meaning Rick Spielman not the Chiller

he wouldn't pick....he being Rick Spielman, not the Chiller.....

Soooooo, in Marrdro's world, who is picking.....Spielman.
