Herrera to have bounce back year?

Could we be getting the Herrera from 2007 back?

    Herrera finally feels healthy
    Posted by Chip Scoggins

Vikings coach Brad Childress was asked this past winter how he would describe Anthony Herrera's performance in 2009. Childress said he thought the veteran right guard played "decent."
"But again, he was a post-surgical guy that really had a pretty good shoulder surgery [after the 2008 season] that he fought through," Childress said in March.

Herrera, who heard criticism from fans and media last season, revealed Thursday after the Vikings OTA workout that his recovery from that shoulder surgery had a significant impact on how much he was able to prepare.
"I wasnít 100 percent," he said. "I wasnít where I am now. Honestly itís been two full years where I havenít been able to really bench press or do anything. I played two years where the only thing I was able to do in the upper body was just shoulder work. You just fall back on technique and just do what youíve got to do to get it done."
Herrera said he finally turned a corner physically this offseason.

"I started working about a month after the season was over," he said. "Thatís the main part of my game is my strength. I was limited, but if you play offensive line, you suck it up and you play. Iím not a prima donna. Iím not going to let everybody know my business. Itís our teamís business."
Said Childress: "This offseason he's been able to focus on adding strength and conditioning as opposed to rehab. We just talked about [it's] great to be able to spend an offseason with your eye on what you want to get done as opposed to taking care of something."
Childress was asked how much the shoulder limitations affected Herrera's play in 2009.
    "We'll see," he said.

I know we don't have many Herrera fans on this board, but, it would be huge if Herrera showed some life next year.

This may explain alot. Not being able to bench press is a really big problem for an O-lineman.

Steve Hutchinson had shoulder surgery after last season so is he going to be terrible this season?

All kidding a side I hope Herrera is a beast this season he didn't have a great year - I guess you can say that about everybody on the o-line.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

We need to protect our QB and open lanes for our RB's.

but I thought the lanes were there? Since after all, Chester seemed to be hitting them*

I wasn't aware of the injury or its impact, however, I still say that having a rook RT and a first year starter at C didn't help him out either.

I think our OL will be pretty damn solid this year.

I didn't say they weren't. I was just correcting Mars sentence to be accurate.
