I do think that this might be something we are just clinging to like the "[glow=red,2,300]r*********s[/glow] cling to their guns" (LOL).
We have to have something to look forward to.
Harvin being a positive to cling to.....
    [glow=red,2,300]"Roughriders"?[/glow]

    I cling to:
    * Steady improvement. 6-10 to 8-8 to 10-6 Division Champs.
    * Another season of Jared Allen.
    * The return of Kenechi Udeze.
    * The return of EJ Henderson.
    * Another season of Bernard Berrien.
    * The absence of Darren Sharper.
    * Another season of Adrian Peterson.
    * More wonderful mornings tailgating with PPO.

    =Z=
    rep*bl*c*ns

Those are some good things to cling to...... it is a compelling list.

But I want to add another one to that list and that is Harvin.

I think it was unfair to put pressure on TW to be the next RM.
I also think that it would be unfair to say that Harvin will have the same impact as RM.
I don't think it is unfair to want "The Kid" to do well and make contributions to the team anyway he can.

If he can't get YAC, then I say there is something wrong with our offense or the QB is not getting the ball in the WRs hand in position to do so.
We (some of us) have unfairly put the blame on poor WRs, with the exception of the over the top to BB.

Once again, that is a good list to cling to!
One thing I will say is TW was the #7 overall pick.
He had his chances and blew them more often than he took advantage of them.
It was his allegator arms that put him in the predicament he is in now.
"Percy the Gator" doesn't have gator arms.
    LOL!

Back to Z's comments, I am normally a reserved person and don't like to get to excited about too much.
I can't help myself though with Harvin.
Mayock and others use words like "explosive."
He actually said that he was the "most explosive he has seen in many years."
Also there is an article on the Vikings website where they have Nessler saying he is the most exciting player since Reggie Bush.

Ya, Bush didn't translate like people thought he would.
We need a Harvin to get open and get some YAC.

About TW, I don't think that anyone, except Tice, thought he was special.
That is obviously not a true statement and I am taking liberties in my post, but seriously South Carolina.
    It was a reach
With Harvin, you are talking about top talent on a top team.
It should translate better to the NFL or at least the percentages are better than SC.
When TW was drafted, I think people were like, "what" or even "WTF."
    With Harvin, it was expected.

Still think he makes an impact.
If the coaches think that "a guy" is a rookie and he needs to learn, they aren't going to be writing him into plays right away.
But, if that coaching staff think they can use the guy and he will make a difference, they will right him into the script.
    I believe the coaches believe.
More than that, I think that Chilly believes.
He went down there and spent time with his family for a reason.

2 years ago, we got a top RB from a top school in a top conference, the Big 12.
This year, we got a top WR from a top school in a top conference, the SEC.

BTW, let's not talk about TW anymore.
    LOL!
I just hope that we don't have to say this about Harvin some day.
    TW was a bust.
He was a reach for something he wasn't.
He had speed, I will give him that but it was a total reach with a no. 7 pick.

The Harvin pick reminds me a little of the RM pick.
Teams passed on a guys with talent.
They both dropped down in the draft.
    Both had character issues.
The one thing that is good about Harvin, he doesn't shy away from attention like the germ-o-phobe.
He has a great smile which is inviting.
    He is an obvious talent.

Question remains if he translates to the NFL.

Let’s say you have an itch to buy a new, flashy automobile and found one being advertised for quite a reasonable price.

It’s sleek, fast and attractive to drive — again — at a cheaper than normal price....

That rack and pinion steering will be a asset in our WCO, but that 0-60 in 4 seconds is what will separate Harvin, he is sleek, and fast, making him a possible superstar in purple.

And this state has a lemon law so if he ends up being defective...
