    Gruden QB camp: Andy Dalton

Gruden's only piece of criticism is noting an instance in the Rose Bowl when Dalton, hoping to extend a 14-0 lead over Wisconsin, missed a wide-open receiver in the flat while forcing a pass downfield.

"Make a note young man," Gruden said. "You're going to have a checkdown in this offense."

Otherwise, Gruden calls Dalton "one of the great decision-makers in college football history."

I sure wouldn't mind picking him up late in the draft and letting him battle it out with whoever else we sign as a QB.

What are the knocks against him?
    Not big enough.
    Not the best athlete.

From what I can tell, he's incredibly competitive and very smart. If you tell a guy like him, who's been winning for as long as he can remember that he's not good enough, you might be creating a monster. Give this guy a chance.

I like him and I also think keeping McElroy on the draft board as a 6th round pick would also benefit us. He seems like the real deal to me, reminds me on Tom Brady...

I'm right there with you on McElroy.

With 2 fifths, 2 sixths, and 2 sevenths, I wouldn't mind taking a shot at both of them.

3 young guys competing, learning from eachother, and getting everything out of their ability will make me happy even if they're not 100% there week 1.

I completely agree... considering the draft after 4 rounds is a complete crapshoot, why not take a couple of QBs and hope maybe you see something in one of them where you feel "this may be the franchise." Every position you take with a late round pick is usually not guaranteed, QB is the hardest position to scout as most scouts would agree. Why not load up on a couple and just see where it goes from there, there's really nothing much to lose but so much to gain. Sure you can add depth but we have so many picks in the later rounds its worth a shot.

Maybe we should just use every draft pick from here on in on QB's until we finally find a franchise one.

Re: Gruden QB camp: Andy Dalton

I finally got to watch it on TV last night. Although it was good, it sure isn't up to the same standard that Mooch's was in the "Game Changers" stuff.

The way Greenburg was raving about it this morning on his show, you would have thought they really did something great.

Again, it was good (I love Gruden) and it added another piece to my puzzle of info, but it wans't anything like the Moochs stuff.

On a side note, I still like almost every QB in this class and would be happy with almost all of them, but at 12, I just can't help but think that if it isn't Gabbert, its got to be Locker (or possibly Mallet who I still say is to slow for our scheme).

Drafting Locker will set the franchise back another 5 years. I would rather keep Jackson.
