Re: Green Bay vs. Minnestota First Round Picks

I still remember what Green said when ESPN asked him why they passed on Sapp when he was the one player Tony Dungy said was worth trading up to get...

"Well. Esera Tuaolo will play in Henry Thomas' spot at DT..."

    WHAT THE F#CK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah...that was the right choice, good one Denny.

When the Browns passed on Sapp and he was sitting there in the war room, I was jumping for joy. Then....poof, nothing......
I ll be dead and cold before I m green and gold

    Thanks to PPE for sig

Re: Green Bay vs. Minnestota First Round Picks

I think we got a better 1st round group but not by a whole lot more... losing some in their prime (Moss, Stringer, Smith) is kind of hard to digest as great picks especially long term productivity, but I loved them while they were playing for the Vikes. and RIP Korey, we love ya!

To peek on our other division rivals 1st rounders....
Chicago 1st round picks since 1990
    YEAR PK(OVR) NAME POS SCHOOL

2003 22(22) REX GROSSMAN QB FLORIDA
2002 29(29) MARC COLOMBO OT BOSTON COLLEGE
2001 8(8) DAVID TERRELL WR MICHIGAN
2000 9(9) BRIAN URLACHER LB NEW MEXICO

1993 7(7) CURTIS CONWAY WR USC
1992 22(22) ALONZO SPELLMAN DE OHIO STATE
1991 22(22) STAN THOMAS OT TEXAS
Detroit 1st round picks since 1990
    YEAR PK(OVR) NAME POS SCHOOL

2005 10(10) MIKE WILLIAMS WR USC
2004 7(7) ROY WILLIAMS WR TEXAS
2004 30(30) KEVIN JONES RB VIRGINIA TECH
2003 2(2) CHARLES ROGERS WR MICHIGAN STATE
2002 3(3) JOEY HARRINGTON QB OREGON
2001 18(18) JEFF BACKUS OT MICHIGAN
2000 20(20) STOCKAR MCDOUGLE OT OKLAHOMA
1999 9(9) CHRIS CLAIBORNE LB USC
1999 27(27) AARON GIBSON OT WISCONSIN
1998 20(20) TERRY FAIR DB TENNESSEE
1997 5(5) BRYANT WESTBROOK DB TEXAS
    1996 17(17) REGGIE BROWN LB TEXAS A&M

1992 26(26) ROBERT PORCHER DE SOUTH CAROLINA ST
1991 10(10) HERMAN MOORE WR VIRGINIA
Now to select us out as the team with "1st round Busts" one should view these teams also... I think it's just sour grapes and some of the Greenies are being a tad jealous of the Purple? Some may say even that you (Green Bay) may have had the worst 1st rounders in our entire division!

    Speed out!

Thats funny, even though you think you had way better picks, GB still made it to two superbowls.

Vikequeens for the loss, Packers for the win.

I hate to admit this but I was troll'n in cheese country and it was sad to hear how all the Pack fans thought we have always had a "bust" in the first round (compaired to the Cheesies 1st rounders).

So I flagged the comparisons... I think we both have had some flops if you ask me.... True we don't have an active player on our roster (one of our No.1's) pre 2002.

    ..........GB.................Vikes................ ..................
2006 Hawk vs Greenway (draw) guess we will know in 3 or 4 years!

2005 Rogers vs Williamson & James (Vikes win) James and Troy have played

2004 Carroll vs Udeze (draw) neither has torn up league yet.

2003 Barnet vs K-Williams (draw) both are gol 'darnit good

2002 Walker vs McKinnie (draw) both are gol 'darnit good

2001 Reynolds vs M.Bennett (Vikes win) (Reynolds bust and out of NFL)

2000 Franks vs Hovan (draw) Franks is overrated and Hovan made a probowl

1999 Edwards vs Culpepper (vikes win) no contest

1998 Holliday vs Moss (Vikes win) no contest

1997 Verba vs Rudd (GB win) Not that Verba was great just that Rudd was such a headcase

1996 Michels vs Clemons (Vikes win) Michels was a bust and Clemons had a decent career

1995 Newsome vs Stringer & Alexander (Vikes win) Newsome played 4 years, and if Korey had not died he would still be going to probowls!

1994 Taylor vs Washington & Steussie (Vikes win) Both were better than Taylor

1993 Simmons & Teague vs Robert Smith (Vikes win) Smith was the best of these 3 by far.

1992 Buckley vs No Pick (GB wins) Buckley was a good player

1991 Clark vs No Pick (GB wins) Clark was OK but if Vikes had a pick at all it would have been a race.

    Totals:

    Draws 5
    Vikes 8
GB 3 (2 because we did not have a pick)

I say we have kicked their a$$ when it comes to drafting in the 1st round!
Like the way you broke that down Whack......I'de have to agree with your breakdown......

I LOVE THE SMELL OF VICTORY IN THE MORNING AIR.

It's just funny on how there are always 2 sides to every story. To have seen the Pack forum on this issue (it was skewed heavily towards your thoughts of course!) and our site heavily towards ours.

I guess the grass is not greener on the other side huh?

Copy the post I where I broke it down on the 1st page of this thread and paste it on their site, see how how they disagree.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.
