Green Bay vs. Minnestota First Round Picks

I hate to admit this but I was troll'n in cheese country and it was sad to hear how all the Pack fans thought we have always had a "bust" in the first round (compaired to the Cheesies 1st rounders).

So I flagged the comparisons... I think we both have had some flops if you ask me.... True we don't have an active player on our roster (one of our No.1's) pre 2002.

WE HAVE BETTER ONES EASLIY

We definitely have the best of that list. Sitting with at least one Hall of Famer and seven pro bowlers while the Packers are with 0 Hall of Famers and two pro blowers I think.

Of those two lists, we for sure had the better players.. Most of our guys were game breakers, other then a couple, Green Bay is in a distant second..

Aside from Underwood, there aren't any busts on the Vikings lists.

Most did contribute when they were on the Vikings...

There were a couple "disappointments"..like Duane Clemons , Micheal Bennett, and Chris Hovan. But I wouldn't go as far to call them busts......

The draft is a strange thing..

How many times do later round selections end up being pro-bowl players and actually have a longer career in the NFL....

1998.

2nd rd. Kailee Wong

6th rd. Matt Birk

While Wong had a decent career in Minnesota and is now a Texan, which pick here ended up being the better pick for the Vikes...

1995

1st rd. Derrick Alexander

7th rd. Jason Fisk

Alexander spent time in Cleveland before injuries ended his career, while Fisk had stops in Tennessee and San Diego and actually has had a longer career in the NFL and is curently a free agent who may be signed by the Rams...

thats actually an extremely good list if you really look at it...

2006 CHAD GREENWAY -- probably will be a huge pick up
2005 TROY WILLIAMSON -- can see him coming out in a big way this season
2005 ERASMUS JAMES -- pretty good player, will be getting more time now that johnstone is gone
2004 KENECHI UDEZE -- pretty much the same situation as james, as long as he comes back good from that injury
2003 KEVIN WILLIAMS -- fucking amazing
2002 BRYANT "MOUNT" MCKINNIE -- a pretty damn good tackle (and intimidating next to stand next to when you're my size)
2001 MICHAEL BENNETT -- meh.. injury plagued, got one good season out of him and a couple random decent games, always will be a track star to me
2000 CHRIS HOVAN -- loved him as a vikings with his fueds vs brett favre, but no longer on our team and not the greatest anymore
1999 DAUNTE CULPEPPER -- like him or not he was a good pick up for a while, sucks we only got a 2nd round pick for him
1999 DIMITRIUS UNDERWOOD -- .... thats all i think i need to say lol
1998 RANDY MOSS -- dont care what he did off field, love the guy as a player, was/is an amazing reciever
1997 DWAYNE RUDD -- honestly dont really know much about this guy, im young =(

1993 ROBERT SMITH -- well, he was the last running back we had with consistant 1000 yard seasons.. and 3 of those 4 years are after we had moss (some of them with carter<3) so.. thats pretty good considering we were a throw it up offensive

SLacker fans can say all they want about busts, no one will know who will be good or a bust until a few years down the road. ONly Now are we able to tell from the 2001, 2002, and maybe 2003 who are steals, busts, good picks, bad picks, etc.

1993 Simmons & Teague vs Robert Smith (Vikes win) Smith was the best of these 3 by far.

1992 Buckley vs No Pick (GB wins) Buckley was a good player

1991 Clark vs No Pick (GB wins) Clark was OK but if Vikes had a pick at all it would have been a race.

Dwayne Rudd was really good his first couple years in Minnesota, no way a bust !

Duane Clemons was drafted with alot of fanfare but was a "tweener" who never really caught on at either DE or LB...

Derrick Alexander's deal is he was drafted ahead of Warren Sapp and to this day, you have to wonder what it would of been like to have Sapp play next to Randle !!!!!

Dewayne Washington had an amazing rookie season and is still in the NFL..

Todd Steussie was a pro-bowl player in Minnesota and has a good career..
