    Greatest Need?

Do you think we should draft based on greatest need or player. Chester Taylor is a capable back. With our line shaping up the way that it has, I see him running for 1,200 yards. So, Do we draft a rookie RB and ease him into the game.? The Big Three (QB's) will be gone, so I am not sure about that. I think that our greatest need is LB, but the person I see worthy of a 17th pick is AJ. So, what what should the team do. Trade up?? IF so, for who. Man, I wish we would have picked Derrick Johnson or Odell Thurman last year. Comments

Im pretty sure we either draft up for a QB (Young or Cutler - dont think we can reach Leinert) - or draft LB's Ernie Sims or Chad Greenway.

With CT, Memo and Fason we are set at backs..

Leinart would cost two second round picks and a first.
Young would cost a third, second, and a first.
Cutler could slip to the Vikings. I pray they are not looking at that kid. He's the next Kyle Boller.

I hope they get Cromartie in round one. He ran a 4.3 coming off of knee surgury. He's big enough to play safety too, he's versitle.

QB is our greatest need, but I doubt we will be drafting one in the first round, unless by some slim chance Cutler falls to us. I think we will spend the first two picks on a LB and a CB, and then look for a QB in the late second round.

We have the plans for the case already. It is surrounded by a proposed $1.5+ billion sports development in Blaine.

    Re: Greatest Need?

The two possibilities for the first round will be between QB and LB. WE will have to trade up at least 6 spots to have a chance at Cutler, a move which I think will be worth it in the future. If the QBs go really high and we have to committ to LB early, trading down is also a possibillity. Most mock drafts have Greenway going at 25 to the Giants, so maybe we would be able to get draft pick AND a LB if we go down five spots?

In terms of need I am totally split on this issue. A QB would cost a lot and have no immediate impact, but be great in terms of the future. LB is the weakest part of our Defense, but I don't think another yound player is going to help that much. Yes, he will probably have a chance to start and make big plays this year, but the LB corps is soooo young already. I would have much rather preferred us to pick up a saavy veteran FA to play MLB.

For the other rounds OL, RB, DL, CB, and TE all would improve depth where we are thinnest.

Oh...you mean the Vikings' greatest need... ops:

    Right Tackle...solution: Marcus McNeill

We may be surprised at how Childress solves the LB problem...from within!
