Best wishes to Gray. I hoped he didn't sign but more than that I hope we don't trade for Sage.
I kind of want us to draft someone good(hopefully Woodson or Johnson) and that 3rd rounder is going to come in handy.
Why would you really give up a 3rd rounder for a backup Qb? That's like getting skipped during the draft... lol ..Too soon? ???
I love lamp.

It's a lousy point.
The BACKUP QB is not more important than ANY starter, unless he holds for kicks, and then he's marginally as important as the long-snapper.

But listen to my reasoning.
Quarterback is the most imporant position on the field.
Period.
No, you don't have to have a great quarterback to be successful.
But you do have to have one that can at least manage the game.
If your starting quarterback goes down and you don't have a serviceable backup, you are done for.
You can't say that with any other position.
I love lamp.

And no, I'm not defending the FO for trading for a guy like Kelly Holcomb.
But if they wanted to trade for someone like Sage, I'm all for it.
I love lamp.

Is Jim Sorgi more important than Reggie Wayne?
What about Matt Cassell and Richard Seymour?
It's a nuanced debate - but I judge starters to be more valuable than any backup.

Why, cause you don't agree with it?
Need I remind you that a record number of QB's started games last year because of injuries to starters?
Wonder how important that Backup QB becomes when the starter is out (ala TJ last year).
Hmmmmm, hmmmmmmm..
You crack me up.

Quarterbacks as durable as Brady, Manning, and Favre are pretty rare.
I just don't think there is one position that even comes close to the impact that quarterback has.
Take away Richard Seymour and I think the Pats are still 18-1.
Take away Tom Brady, and who knows?
It would all depend on how good of a quarterback Cassel is.
I know that it's a big IF.
And it may sound like flawed logic.
But the number of QB's that go down each year is crazy.I love lamp.

How many games did Tarvaris start in 2007?
12.
I believe he was knocked out of 2.
So - six times last season, a backup was needed to replace him - and only 2 of those times did the backup come in cold (or 3, I'm not sure).
How many snaps did Matt Birk take in 2007?
How many plays was EJ Henderson on the field for?
Are you SERIOUSLY telling me that Brooks Bollinger/Kelly Holcomb was more important to the success or failure of the overall Minnesota Vikings team in 2007 than either Matt Birk or EJ Henderson?
