GRAY SOON TO BE A TEXAN
Posted by Mike Florio on March 23, 2008, 8:28 p.m.

So maybe, just maybe, the Texans have told Gray that they’re still thinking about trading Rosenfels.
A deal was nearly done not long ago, but they wanted a second-round pick, but the Minnesota Vikings were willing to part with only a third-rounder.

In our view, Gray wouldn’t be prepared to take the minimum one-year salary if he thought that he’d merely be an extra arm for training camp and the preseason.
Thus, we tend to think that Gray knows something is up, and that he very well might be No. 2 on the depth chart once the season begins.

Texans | Gray set to sign with team
    Sun, 23 Mar 2008 13:30:54 -0700

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports free-agent QB Quinn Gray (Jaguars) said he is set to sign a one-year contract with the Houston Texans. The team is giving him a one-year deal worth $635,000, including $40,000 to sign.

Man I love the speculation, in the offseason
Yep! I remember two years ago when Edgerin James was supposed to be a lock coming here.

From what I saw of Sage last year, a second rounder doesn't seem too out of line. He looked better than Schaub to me. Fewer mistakes maybe.

The only way I can justify trading a night pick for a QB is if that player is going to come in and start.
I still stand by the fact that a third rounder is too much for a backup QB.
Unless they plan on starting him, which if that was the case it shows me the Vikings have no confidence in T-Jack and they might as well draft a new QB in the draft.
I just don't get why the Vikings Front Office gets their jollies by trading for sub-par back up QBs

a second rounder is too much to give up for a back up qb

Best wishes to Gray. I hoped he didn't sign but more than that I hope we don't trade for Sage.
I kind of want us to draft someone good(hopefully Woodson or Johnson) and that 3rd rounder is going to come in handy.

Why would you really give up a 3rd rounder for a backup Qb? That's like getting skipped during the draft... lol ..Too soon? ???

Like I've said, the Vikings Triangle of Doom gets their jollies somehow trading or trying to trade for other teams back-up QBs

    People, People People.

They are not only gonna get Sage but they are gonna draft a kid as well.

That means BB will be gone and we will have a QB roster of

    TJ (starts)
    Sage (Backup)
Rookie (learns the way a rookie is supposed to learn, on the bench for a couple of years).

    And to answer Schutz's question......

You trade for a Backup QB cause he is gonna play sometime this year and a guy like Sage (7 years) still has some gas in the tank.
That means he will be around for a couple of years allowing for some continuity/time to learn/get comfortable with the system.

And yet they always seem to have a plethora of picks to do it with every year.

(So hard to say "Every" and "Always" as the Spielman era isn't really long enough to say it
