If the coaches are watching the same film as me he has no trade value guys. Even if we wanted to trade him. There bettter off letting him hit the FA market and picking him up for a way cheaper price on a new contract.

Between the injuries, inconsistent play, and off the field issues he's lost all trade value. If we can get something great but i'm doubting it. He's not a guy who i would trade for.

At least get a mid to late round draft pick for him.. I am sure that the Vikings front office is just happy to get rid of him at this point.. His two seasons here were nothing to brag about.. His play is not what it was when he was with Washington, and his off field problems didn't help his case either..

The contract is still an issue, but I would love to at least get something for him.
He could easily be a starting CB on several teams.
If he could easily be the starting CB on several teams why not the Vikings???
What will tick me off is if we trade him somewhere and he shines.
Then it will be clear that its not the players here its the pass defense scheme that is at fault.
I think what hes saying is that in the NFL its hard to find just a decent CB.
CB is a tough position that requires alot of skill.I honestly believe Fred Smoot is infact better then alot of CBs starting around the league. However, just how much better? Not much.I think Smoot will only truly shine while playing nickle. Its what he played in Washington before we signed him.He excells in that role, but faulters when given the opportunity to start. He could play as a 2nd CB for alot of teams in the league right now, but alot of teams dont have jack for corners.

Theres NOTHING greater then a Florida Gator!

We don't want the cap hit, and his contract is too big for any other team to swallow.
I thought the cap hit was only $500,000???

I don't think that THIS year's contract number is too much...but next year's number definitely IS...makes me wanna keep him for at least THIS year...then cut him.

I don't think it's the salary as much as the large deferred bonus he is due this year. Reported at $5M. Don't know if he is worth that. If it was just the $500,000 I think they keep him.

They may be planning on dropping him and hoping to re-sign him if the bidding war doesn't exceed his worth.

Not MY money...I'm more concerned about the salary cap...and how it affects who we can get!
