You should ask TNT about life experiences.

I'll be heading down but I'm not sure what day yet - definitely not Monday.

    Re: Going to Mankato Monday.

Been a lifelong fan and always wanted to go to training cap, but never been a MN native.
This year though my wife and I are flying up from Atlanta to go.
Will be there the 8th through 11th.
    I am totally stoked.
Any advice on places to eat and such in Mankato?
Plus anyone else going to be there then?

So could anyone fill me in with what you are able to see and do at a trainingcamp? Are you able to see the training itself, and also its only a few hours on the morning and a few more on the afternoon. What do you do in between and afterwards? Hunting autographs?

    Thx in advance

You two need to link up with Singer for advice.
Cat has that whole place/process figured out.

Yea, the players come out onto the field closest to the bleachers (normally) and do their stretches.
After that, they generally split up and do position drills.
Offense & Defense will split onto different fields and do the simple drills with pads/dummies/sleds etc.
Sometimes you get the shafts and its nothing but special teams drills, but that will normally be marked in advance.

Not all practices are just simple drills tho, as it gets a little more into it, they will have a couple full contact practices - where the players will be in full game day gear and smack the hell out of each other trying to win their spot on the team.
Most practices they are wearing purple shorts, their practice jerseys, and small pads.

Both the morning and afternoon practices generally last around 2 hours.
I don't have my schedule on me, but there are also some 7pm night practices, normally on the weekends.
Immediately proceeding every morning practice is autograph sessions in the Autograph Zone.
A few lines, usually between 4-6, will form. (depending on the players, people will line up at times an hour+ in advance, even more if its RBs), they do it in groups, OL, DL, RB, QBs, WRs, etc.
There is also good spots over by the fences by the locker rooms, where some players will stop and sign autographs either before or after hitting the showers, there's generally a crowd tho.

There's normally about 4 hours or so in between the morning and afternoon practice.
There's plenty of good stuff do to around town/campus.
If you're looking for a good spot to see some players out side of the fences/gear, then your best bets are the good food places right on Stadium Drive.
Boomtown is really the only bar close to the fields, so some players will go there later in the afternoon/evening, its right in the mall (University Square) directly across from campus.
Another good place right at the corner of Monks and Stadium (easy to find) is Jake's Stadium Pizza.
11-4 Daily they have a lunch special (dine in only), a small pizza and a pop for $6.
Its been the Vikings Campus headquarters for years, the walls are just absolutely littered with autographed memorabilia (entire teams would autograph pizza paddles).
Otherwise there's also Greenmill, Chipotle, within a couple blocks.

Just remember, the players are doing two-a-days and before/in between/after practice they're stuck in meetings.
Sometimes the last thing they want is to be hoarded for autographs while they are on their free time (they don't get much of it, they have a curfew).
Just be respectable, and they're usually more than willing to sit and chat or sign an autograph.
They're easy to spot too, almost all of them will be riding the same bikes, they're all given them to use by Scheels for camp.

    Hope that helps.
Any other questions I'd be glad to answer, after all, I live 3 blocks away
    ;D
