if jackson shows tomorrow that hes flat out not ready at all, and has a terrible offseason, then i wouldnt mind having garcia start for a season..the guy isnt a schmo..if we pick up some receivers and the line gets a little better at protecting, almost any veteran would be good back there..i want tjack to be the starter, but in reality, if he really isnt ready, then what other option do we have if we really want to win games?
I couldn't agree with you more.
The Vikings should go into this off-season with Jackson lined up as the starter while having a veteran backup available if TJ doesn't seem to be ready.

Of those possible backups, I wouldn't mind Garcia, Plummer, or even Huard.

Garcia is not a good qb.
He has his moments that is for sure.
We need to get Schaub and have t jack backup till he is fully ready.
I would say by year 3 Jackson will be more than ready.
Sign Schaub to a 3 year deal. Please Ziggy dont be like Polad that tight ass wont spend on anything needed that might cost over 3 million a season.
Ziggy and the staff get this done this off season.

Umm, and what makes you think that this offense has the talent for Garcia to be good?

Vikings to pursue Garcia?

Jeff Garcia - QB - PHI - Feb. 6 - 2:53 pm et

There has reportedly been speculation in Minnesota that the Vikings will offer Jeff Garcia over $4 million-per-season to be their starting QB.

Pennsylvania's Centre Daily Times names Denver and Carolina as other suitors for Garcia, even though he'd back up in both places. The Vikings make sense, but coach Brad Childress has denied interest in a veteran QB, saying he's satisfied with Tarvaris Jackson and Brooks Bollinger. Feb. 6 - 2:53 pm et

Don't count on the Vikes even having a shot at Schaub.

Most of what I have heard says the Falcons aren't sold on Vick and they want to keep Schaub as a possible starter if Vick doesn't work out under Petrino.

I wouldn't be surprised if Vick went somewhere where he would be appreciated as a troublemaker suck as Oakland.

Sounds as though we may end up going after him... I am not to excited about this so called rumor, but what can we do?

Re: Garcia anyone?

if he somehow lands here, i wouldnt be mad..jackson aint ready, and brooks is a scrub..cant object to throwing in a guy that completely turned around a team in philly that every single expert and football fan had counted out..plus, a former probowler with plenty of playoff experience..sounds good to me..id much prefer david carr because he can be a franchise guy, but since childress is riding his entire life and career on jackson, he might as well bring in a polished veteran who possesses the same skill set that we want jackson to develop
People who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point.

As always I will state it again, I am not sold on any of them as our future franchise QB until they prove themselves worthless or able.
