Wow, nice sig. Bring the Big Dawg back! At 40 years old, John Randle could play better run defense than Cato June."PurpleMafia" wrote:
Agrred..What's with everyone wanting to send our run defense down the tube with Colts players?Take it from someone who lives in Indy. Cato June is terrible. Most overrated player in the NFL last season. Pro-Bowl bid was a
joke. Mediocre at best. I'd rather have the guys we got.Retired 12/21/08

He is worthless against the run anyway.
I'd rather have a d end that can rush the passer without forgetting that QB's tend to hand it off every now and then.
Freeny is a freak, he could play for any NFL team that he wanted to......I used to watch him play in High School, here in CT..
I live in a city ( New Britain, CT.) that has one of the best HS football programs in the State...Freeney played for Bloomfield High, another solid program, but they did take a step back the past few years...
I used to enjoy going and watching NB High play Bloomfield....Freeney was a man amongst boys.....Just as was Tubucky Jones, when he played for NB High...
Freeney is solid enough for the run, but hard to match his rushing skills with most other DE's......
I said in the beginning, the Colts wheren't going to let him go anywhere.... And I think Cato June is an above average player also.......I hope we bring him in, and think there's a good chance we will...

IMOA I would rather see them go after one of these two guys.

Although not as big a name and with the numbers that Freeney had I think they both would help out at the DE position.
Pro/Cons: Smith isn't a RFA where Allen is. Allen is a bit younger.
Both, I think, could be brought in on long term contracts and wouldn't break the bank. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: Freeny Franchised: There goes that dream
Freeny would have been awsome to get but he would have cost too much so I guess its ok.
Hope we get someone though to step into the role we wanted Freeny for."Lurker" turned Poster

But he gets way to far up the field in situations where a team might run the ball, and he runs himself out of the play.
I am not sure about the Colts' defensive philosophy, but I assume their defensive ends have some responsibility against the run.
***I don't think he is a bad player, he creates havoc in the backfield, but I would rather have a guy who is good against the run than a pass rusher.
