I believe some major upgrades are still needed for this team...I do not believe that Cupepper will be unloaded but this topic is about free agent pick-ups that you my fellow ppo members would like to see in purple next season

2.Sign Edge/Maroney/White/D.Williams/J.Lewis or Alexander

3.Sign Julian Peterson and/or Will Witherspoon

4.Sign John Runyan and/or Lecharles Bentley and/or Steve Hutchinson

5.Sign Adam Archuleta, or Chris Hope

That would be the perfect off season for me and the vikes to take a big step in the right direction.

sounds good to me. with 20 mil in space we can only afford one player from each of the 5 categories listed, if that.

I would really like to see us go after Witherspoon ... Peterson is a me first asshat and once he gets a contract will be just an average player ... I definitely want us to re-sign B-Will, K-Rob, Newman and Lance ... if we land another LB we don't need Cowart back all that badly ... would prefer Longwell, Vanderjerk or Vinateri and K than Edinger.
The running back spot will work itself out ... we will either draft or sign one or give Mewelde the carries next season and he will be fine.
Hutchinson is franchised and unattainable ... so I would like to see us go after Bentley and I hope we re-sign Chavous ... all the safeties are fairly even and it is always better to have a guy who already knows the guys he is playing with.

Re-sign KRob, Lance and BWill (CB money, but he has to play S).

Keep Cowart, Edinger, Offord and Newman (unless we can upgrade).

Sign Edge in FA (if not, then draft DeAngelo, Maroney, or White)

Sign Peterson or Witherspoon in FA (if not, draft Ryan or Manny)

Sign Runyan at OT or Bentley at G (if not, draft McNeill or Latui)

Sign Dexter Jackson at SS if we don't retain BWill.

Obviously, we can't draft instant starters to fill all of our holes, so we are gonna have to be active in FA...we need to properly assess who will still be available in the Draft at our spot, figure who will be the best value at that spot, then sign FAs for the rest of the spots. The most we can hope for is one or MAYBE two starters from the draft, so most of the holes need to be filled in FA. We should know who we are targeting by the time the draft gets here and there shouldn't be any HUGE holes left. I figure that the biggest holes are RB and LB...we should be able to improve our OL without spending too much money...especially if we draft a HUGE OT that can start immediately and if Fonoti and Marcus Johnson can step in and perform.

We would be stupid to let Lance go...he will come relatively cheap, he doesn't care if he starts, and he is a veteran pass rush specialist who can still get it done. Plus he is a great influence on our young DEs...a coach on the field that will make every one of those guys better.
