He was signed by the Vikings, and I believe that the Vikes plan to bring him to camp so he is not a free agent.
Yeah, im pretty sure he is a Viking right now, unless he got released!! I had high hopes for him!! I wouldn't leave all the playing up to Griffin so i would either sign him or make sure he makes it to camp on time!!!

Yes, Whitaker is a Viking. We signed him earlier in the offseason.

Him, Hosack & Bubin are doing well in NFL Europe

TWO VIKINGS NAMED ALL NFL EUROPE

MAY 25, 2006

Minnesota Vikings' WR Aaron Hosack and CB Ronyell Whitaker were named to the All-NFL Europe League team today.

Hosack, who played for the Frankfurt Galaxy, finished 3rd in the league with 36 receptions for 473 yards (13.1 avg.) and 4 TDs. He started all 10 games for Frankfurt, who finished the season with a 7-3 record and will play in World Bowl XIV vs. Amsterdam on Saturday. Hosack originally signed with the Vikings in 2004 as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Minnesota and has spent time on the Vikings' practice squad.

Whitaker started every game for the Rhein Fire and posted 4 interceptions (2 for TDs), which tied him for 2nd-best in the league. He added 42 tackles, 12 passes defensed, 2 forced fumbles, and 9 special teams tackles.

Whitaker tied an NFL Europe record with a 100-yard INT return for a TD at Hamburg (5/14). He signed with the Vikings on February 17, 2006. Whitaker saw time in four games for Tampa Bay in 2003 with one start and spent the 2004 season on the Buccaneers' practice squad.

Whitaker is exactly what the doctor ordered when it comes to adding depth in our secondary. He came out of nowhere so its almost like we got a solid backup for free.
Actually he was from the Tampa Bay Bucs!! He played with them when they went to the SB, then he played on their practice squad then the following year he was brought up and played very little for the Bucs!! Mike Tomlin wanted to bring in a guy that knows the Cover 2 scheme well!!!

We should at least take a look at Kevin Harrison and Travis Harris at the Mike...you never know...at least they might push our existing MLBs, who haven't shown much yet!

I still want us to scoop up Donnie Edwards to solidify the middle...but if we don't, we need to create as much competition in camp as possible so that whomever wins the Mike spot will be hungry and will have earned the position!
Looks like Denver scooped up Kevin Harrison...I think Travis Harris is still available though.
