Here are some highlights:Final Mankato practices and a depth chart
August 12th, 2009 – 8:21 AM by Judd Zulgad
MANKATO — The Vikings’ shorter than usual training camp stay will come to an end today as they hold two practices at Minnesota State, Mankato. The first practice is scheduled to run from 9 to 11:15 a.m. (it was raining as of 8:05 p.m.) and a second session is scheduled to go from 2:10 to 3:15 p.m. The Vikings will open the preason on Friday night when they play at Indianapolis.
The Vikings also have issued their first depth chart of training camp. Here it is:
The thing of note there (IMHO) is that Jaymar has the absolute lead in the race for the 5th spot as WR.WR 87 Bernard Berrian — 11 Jaymar Johnson — 82 Darius Reynaud or 16 Glenn Holt or 13 Bobby Williams
WR 18 Sidney Rice — 19 Bobby Wade — 12 Percy Harvin or 15 Vinny Perretta or 14 Nick Moore
No surprise there.RT 71 Phil Loadholt — 62 Ryan Cook — 66 Nick Urban
Cook is currently listed as the #3 center, too.
Uh-oh, Ian Johnson fans....HB 28 Adrian Peterson — 29 Chester Taylor — 34 Albert Young or 36 Kahlil Bell or 35 Antone Smith
LOL!QB 7 Tarvaris Jackson/Sage Rosenfels (no starter listed) — 4 John David Booty
No help there for you QB race partisans!
So, either Sapp or McCauley are in the lead for the 3rd CB spot.LCB 26 Antoine Winfield — 21 Marcus McCauley — 41 Karl Paymah — 24 Marcus Walker
RCB 23 Cedric Griffin — 22 Benny Sapp — 30 Asher Allen — 27 Derrick Roberson
More reason to keep Jaymar.KR 12 Percy Harvin — 11 Jaymar Johnson — 82 Darius Reynaud
PR 11 Jaymar Johnson — 12 Percy Harvin — 87 Bernard Berrian
=Z=
Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Re: First Depth Chart of the 2009 season issued by Vikings
Pretty sure Jaymar made the team.
I would rather see McCauley over Sapp at nickle, and would love to see Asher Allen getting some looks in dime this year.
Everything is pretty much what we were expecting.Zeus wrote:

Tjacks name is listed before Sage, that's a good sign.

I was waiting for someone to say that.

In a small way I felt sorry for Marcus Walker's low standing, but I think Judd said it best on his blog
The highlight of the afternoon practice, which was held in shorts and shells, was Sage Rosenfels’ 52-yard touchdown pass to Percy Harvin in an 11-on-11 drill. Harvin got behind cornerback Marcus Walker on the play. Harvin has made Walker’s life extremely difficult in this camp.

Happy about Loadholt and Jaymar's places. Little disappointed about Ian Johnson but I guess he didn't cut it.
I see Urban is listed as the #3 RT right now and I'm pulling for him just because that story of him working at Target really stuck out in my mind.
Skol Vikings! Go Cubs!
X MARKS THE SPOT

IMO that might be a good thing, because Winfield can blitz a few more QB's easier inside.
