A Few Things From Day One
I am very fortuanate to live in Mankato, so I go to Training Camp as much as I can.
For those that have only been able to read and see brief video, I'd like to share a few things I saw from day one of camp.
I really liked some of the drills they were doing.
My personal favorite was the linebackers against running backs.
The backers would blitz from the end and back would have to pick them up and block, before they got to the quarterback (who in this case was the running backs coach).
There was some fierce battles going on, I loved it.
On one, Chester Taylor jacked Vinny Ciurciu pretty darn hard, and Ciurciu didn't like it.
They exchanged pretty hard shoves before coaches stepped in.
On another one, Jason Glenn bulled over Mewelde Moore, and Moore didn't like it, so he got up and shoved.
Glenn just walked away and repeatedly screamed, "This ain't no tennis!
Don't get mad at me!
This ain't no tennis!"
It was pretty funny.
Overall, Jim Kleinsasser totally dominated the drill, and Chad Greenway looked very good in it too.
They also did one on ones with the receivers and cornerbacks.
They matched up against the same people everytime.
Antoine Winfield took on Bobby Wade, and Cedric Griffin took on Troy Williamson.
Williamson caught every ball in that drill, Wade did as well.
Marcus McCauley made two nice breakups on Aundrae Allison.
As for how Williamson is catching the ball, he only dropped one yesterday, and it would have been a tough catch.
However, I'm a little bit concerned with how he is catching the ball.
He is catching everything with his body.
He lets the ball hit his pads and then he brings it in.
It's like he's not confident to just go out and grab it with his hands.
It worked for him, though.
As for full team stuff, Tarvaris Jackson took probably 70 percent of the snaps with the first team line.
He connected on most of his passes, however through one errant one that was picked off by Dwight Smith.
I'll most likely go to camp a few more times and will try to get some pictures.
I'll keep you guys updated whenever I go.
That's all for now, though.

Thank you for the honest recap of what you saw as a fan.
Great stuff, especially the pickup on how T-will is still trying to catch the ball with his body.
Hopefully he will start catching the right way.
Keep it up my friend.
Waiting for the pics.
By the way, do you know how to set up a video cam that you can then link into the net so we can watch as well (Kidding)
;DMany many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: A Few Things From Day One
He needs something attached to him that doesn't let him bring his hand in so he just has to use his hands.

Re: A Few Things From Day One
There was a guy filming next to me, and a security guy came up and yelled at him, so that's off limits.
But I'll definately work on getting some pictures.
I also forgot to mention a few things, I knew I would, Cortez Hankton made two outstanding diving catches in a 7-on-7 drill.
He was fully extended on both of them and kept the ball of the ground both times.
Also, we had tons of different guys returning punts.
Wade, Allison, Moore, and Chandler Williams all took reps.
Sticking with special teams, Ryan Longwell hit every single field goal when they did team field goal.

Re: A Few Things From Day One
Thanks outside22.
Great post.
I am not sure how I feel about this.
While I am glad the recievers are catching the ball I am not thrilled that the defenders didn't at least bat one of them down. They also did one on ones with the receivers and cornerbacks.
They matched up against the same people everytime.
Antoine Winfield took on Bobby Wade, and Cedric Griffin took on Troy Williamson.
Williamson caught every ball in that drill, Wade did as well.
Our lack of pass defense gave us a losing season last year.
