I want him to stay but depending upon what team makes him a offer, it may be tempting to just take the 2nd round pick especially if its in the top 10. There are still alot of good players at the beginning of the second round. Just my 2 cents but again I hope we keep him.
i agree it would be very tempting to take a high 2nd round pick, but pretty much like the consensus of this thread lol, i really hope he stays.
Its almost seems sad to say (but at least u guys understand
;D), but Farwell, a special teams player, is one of my favorite members of this squad

Are you guys kidding I would take the 2nd round pick anytime

It would be like trading a back up for a 2nd rounder.. Hell ya

No one will give that up though so he will be here

You guys have to remember, he has very little experience playing defense.
He's an excellent special teamer, but an average backup at best.
a 2nd for him is more than anyone would ask for.

having said that, i also would like to see him stay, but if someone offered a high 2nd rounder, it would be worth taking.

    Re: Farwell receives offer

Farwell is one of the top special teamers in the league.. He is proven, what he does to that special teams unit is amazing..

I wouldnt let him go for anything less than a first round pick, i know this is sick for a special teams guy, however the special teams unit gather around this guy, numourous times he has come up with the big play, the last tackle or the returner would be gone, the onsidekick recovery, the key block here and there..

He is the MVP 2 years in a row on special teams and has an outstanding importance to this team, he is underrated because he doesnt get playing time outside of that.

He has truely deserved his high tender, after this i hope we sign him to a long-term deal, like 3-4 years.--

Farwell will most likely have more of a role this year on defense.
remember that D. Thomas is a FA as well.

    Especially since he was undrafted.

I would let Heath go and try to resign DT instead if for no other reason he is a bit bigger and use the 2nd round pick to address areas of more pressing need.
A huge difference other than thier size is that DT can also play every LB position which is pretty hard to replace.

A late 2nd day pick could also be used on a young LB prospect that could replace Heath on ST's.

    59 Heath Farwell LB 26 6-0 235 3 San Diego State
    54 Dontarrious Thomas LB 27 6-2 241 4 Auburn

Farwell was under serious consideration for the Pro Bowl (sorry, Ultra!) spot for Special-Teams aces.
How often is he on the field?
    Every kick-off, every punt.
That's LOTS that he brings to the table.

    Keep Heath!

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Don't get me wrong, I like Heath and am aware of his value to the team, but I am also aware of the value DT has.

Lets not forget, Rufus is a beast, can step right in on ST's as well.
He, however, isn't big enough to play all positions.

My worst nightmare (Well maybe not the worst
;D) is that one of our LB's go down and we dont' have the right guy to step up.

Again, ST's vs Primary backup to LB's.
    I take the primary Backup.

How do you know Rufus is a beast?
Hasn't played a single down for the Vikings.

And I think Farwell is a FINE primary backup, for both EJ and Leber.
