yea, absolutely. and i applaud the effort to increase the o-line depth in general.

It's good to start preparing another center, how many times can you fix a hernia.

Thanks Ultra. I was cursing earlier (to myself, not on line); but, I had already figured Cook's likely role wasn't center, so the coaches must have confidence in him elsewhere. At his size, well, Moving Company redux. Jackson? That is all on Childress. I wasn't comfy with Croyle, Jacobs or Whitehurst (kinda liked Clemmons), so, if the TOA likes Jackson, might as well buy in. I figure our needs are addressed. I've seen enough bad trades, and bad drafts to know, this one could be worth the risk. I'm not coaching em, so go Vikes!

As a center it makes no sense, as a tackle/guard he would have been the best available. I think with his work ethic and his size it is a great gamble for us to take
    Not really.

The only difference between a center and a guard is the center snaps the ball.

I will not be surprised to see him excel as a right guard in our offense
But, Del Rio, dat ain't da point. Dis Cook mug was rated as a foith or fifth round pick. Why did Fran Fooey REACH for dis palooka in da 2nd round? It was a wasted pick.

And, den Fooey reached AGAIN with takin' Tarvaris Jackson at da end of da 2nd round. Jackson had been projected as a 2nd day pick, just like Cook. He compounded dat mistake by tinkin' he had to have Jackson NOW, so he trows away both our 3rd round picks!

So, what does we gets outta dis? Four playahs, wit' five picks. Do da math. Fooey is screwy. He wastes 3 picks on two mugs dat could have been taken in day 2!

I know, I shouldn't be so hard on Foley. But he was hired as dis big high-falootin' wiseguy who was great at draftin' mugs. Well, Scott Studwell did a heck of a lot bedda witout him, y'know? I ain't impressed.

Now dat we payed a premium price for low-ranked people, dey bedda produce, or else Fran Fooey needs ta get measured for a concrete overcoat, if ya knows what I mean.

Cook's size reminds me of Birk, one of the bigger centers in the league, so I wouldn't be completely surprised to see him groomed for the job. On the other hand, his height and long arms point more towards right tackle. An interesting pick, clearly a developmental one, but potentially a very good one.

Like everyone else, I'm very satisfied with Greenway and Griffin, and hopeful about Jackson. Heck of a vote of confidence in Brad Johnson, by the way, both in his continued effectiveness and health, since Jackson seems to be at least a couple of years away.

    The guy is a beast.

He may be playing any position on the right side of the line, he may be our new right guard.
I don't disagree ... I think he will be fine and a solid addition ... but I am still not happy with this pick ... hell ... we could have taken Tavaris here if we liked and then taken Cook in the third round and never had to have made a deal ...
