Draw the Linehan: Cutler or Davis gone at 11th

As hard as it may be for Denny Green to deal with the Vikings at No. 10 in the draft, if the Vikes think they're going to get the Rams to deal at No. 11, you better guess again.

Not every war room is completely silent.

In the lying and subterfuge that is the pre-text to the NFL draft, VU has been told a "make book" draft day reality. If Jay Cutler -- likely the third QB to be taken on draft day -- is available to the Rams at No. 11, he's gone. No trades. No sweetened offers. The only thing in between the Rams and Cutler is a tight end.

The Rams aren't giving Scott Linehan final say in their war room, but they are giving him the ability to make his case. That comes down to two players if either is available -- Cutler or Maryland tight end Vernon Davis.

With all the discussion of the Vikings making a move to climb up in the first round to get the player they covet (if in fact they do), one thing has become certain -- if the Vikings haven't swung a deal in the top 10 picks to get Cutler, they won't find a taker at No. 11.

If the Vikings are looking to deal up to get a QB of the future, they can rest easy in the knowledge that, if they're sincere, they had better put their money on being in the top 10. At No. 11, they'll be re-evaluating.

That changes some things. If the Rams are definitely taking Cutler then we're going to have to give a whole hell of a lot to get into the top 10. I say stay put.

Don't trade up but defenitly need to trade for Schaub. I am standing behind Schaub.

We only lose our 1st round pcik for a guy that is a few years ahead of the Rookie learning curve.

It's a steal IMO. I know everyone will say that he hasn't proven squat yet, but I'd be willign to bet that Schaub is going to be a very talented QB in this league for years to come. I just hope the Vikings is the team it happnes with

Well, it doesnt look like we'll be taking QB in the first round, but thats gonna be good for this season. Look how bad the Packers were because they used their first pick on a QB and had shitty rookies. Ernie Simms will be a great addition if he's their. Otherwise we can solidify our secondary with a real good CB. I used to be against taking a CB, but with the depth at LB we can afford to wait till 48 or 51.

Shaub is not worth #17 and Atlanta doesnt want to give him up.

I think our need at LB is more pressing than at QB anyway so let's hope that we get a good one at #17.

Whatever I DON'T want the Vikes to do, they end up doing . . . so I'm guessing they'll trade up. Darn it!

If they do trade up, it better be for A.J. Hawk and not Cutler.
