BYAHHH! Even if we don't get him I love our commitment to line play.

On the flip side we take a big risk by doing this, if we can't get Brown it really hurts our chances at Birk coming back.

How do you think Leigh Bodden would look in the nickel?
    70 + total tackles and 11 pass defenses ain't too shabby...at 6'1" he's got decent size too.
Also, likely won't break the bank...?

I am starting to warm up to the notion of moving around our line a bit...

    Birk At RT?
    Brown taking Snaps?
Sound slike it could be good.

I think the FO would have had a look at him as well as Mike Furrey in the last few months. I'm pumped up to see how FA plays out.

It will be interesting to see what those guys get paid after playing on a winless team. My guess is considerably less than they should.

Who gives a shit about Birk if we land Brown?

Sure he has poored a bunch of it into this team but in this day and age I don't cotton to the "Loyalty to a player" concept.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Yes except when the player wants more money he is a gold digger, but if the Franchise wants to part ways or cut their pay it's just economics.
    But that's not the point.

I believe he was saying if we FAILED to land Brown and then tried to fallback to Birk it wouldn't look good.
    Not if we SIGNED Brown.

I actually know him personally and he's looking at going to the Pats, Jets, or Ravens... he probably would want around 10mill guaranteed and about a 4-5 yr 25mill offer..

besides, he's a starter.. and he'd probably move antoine to nickel... but problem with that is he's more of a man corner not a cover 2 corner...

That's what I was saying. I'll add, Birk would likely have some resentment towards us. First, we try to work out a deal before FA starts. Then delay/bullshit/stall talks long enough to see if we can scuttlebutt brown to MN. If we fail to sign Brown and come back to Birk he will probably already have a deal in place somewhere else.

So by trying to sign Jason Brown and failing, we will fail to sign Birk as well. Ballsy move on the teams part. Unless of course we tampered..

Wow you must know him personally if you think he could move AW to nickel.

I can't say I've ever really followed the browns or lions so I'll take your word that he wants to be a starter, and is a man to man guy.

And if we fail to sign brown and somebody else signs Birk we will be in real great shape going into the season.
