Have you heard the term "Release"?

Teams always release players AFTER the first few weeks of FA.

So mellow, dude. The sun shall rise again.

Sounds like you've got some pretty fickle fans as friends. I suppose they bought Indiannapolis Colts jerseys this year too, didn't they?

I also can't understand how you think we look worse now than we did last year. If you think we looked like Carmen Electra last year (and if you did I think you and your friends expected way too much from the team) then given the minimal changes to our roster, we should look like Carmen Electra to you again this year.

Anything can happen between now and opening day. Let's wait and see what kind of team takes the field in the fall.

The NFL's Cowboys suspected that the USFL was not going to last. They acquired Walker's NFL rights by selecting him in the fifth round of the 1985 draft. When the USFL in fact succumbed after its technically successful, but financially fruitless antitrust suit against the NFL in 1986, Walker went to play for the Cowboys, eventually establishing himself as a premier NFL running back with two consecutive Pro-Bowl seasons (1987,1988). In 1989, at the height of his NFL career, the Cowboys traded his rights to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a total of five players (LB Jesse Solomon, DB Issiac Holt, RB Darrin Nelson, LB David Howard, DE Alex Stewart) and six draft picks (which led to Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, and Darren Woodson). This was judged to be one of the seminal events in the return of the Cowboys to the top echelon of the NFL and the trade would ultimately overshadow Walker's NFL career achievements.

Re: Did We Get Anything We Wanted This Off Season??

We all knew that there would be some wild contracts this year during free agency, but the numbers for new Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe are pretty shocking.

Shiancoe, a backup tight end for the Giants with 35 career catches, signed a five-year, $18.2 million deal with the Vikings. Clearly Minnesota likes the athletic potential of Shiancoe, who has been a backup partly because the Giants have a pretty good starting tight end in Jeremy Shockey. ESPN.com rated Shiancoe as the 18th best free agent tight end, but that seems somewhat low as Shiancoe has good speed and good hands. What he seems to lack is the lower body to drive block and get good push in the running game. And it's a lot of money to spend on a guy who is requiring a lot of projection to envision as an everydown linebacker.
What this clearly means is that the Vikings won't be bringing Daniel Graham to town as was once rumored.

The Vikings have also locked up special teamer/linebacker Vinny Ciurciu with a three-year, $3 million deal, which is again a sign that everyone is expensive this offseason. Ciurciu is good on special teams, but he's not expected to make an impact on defense.

There is bad news, as Kevin Curtis left Minnesota without a contract and is now in Detroit looking for a deal. With Drew Bennett (Rams) and Ashley Lelie (49ers) already off the market here are few wide receivers left to woo.
