MANKATO - The Mankato police department responded to a call at the Gage Hall dorms, where the Vikings are headquartered, after a health issue was reported this morning.
A spokesman from the Mankato Police Department confirmed that one person died but said the deceased was not directly related to the Vikings organization. The spokesman did not give any details, but indicated more information could come soon.
The Vikings continued to practice. As of 10 a.m. there were still four police cars in the Gage Hall driveway.

Re: Death at Vikings camp not related directly to team
Holy pooh.
I wonder what happened?
My guess is that it was a university employee.
When I worked for WIU and the St Louis Rams were in camp, I spent a lot of time in Thompson Hall (where the Rams were headquartered) working on their computers.
The only people allowed in were Rams or university affiliated, and security was pretty tight.
My guess is that it is the same way at Mankota.Zeus wrote:

MANKATO - A member of the Vikings' security staff was found dead at training camp this morning, apparently because of a heart attack.
Frank Foster, 66, was a retired St. Paul police officer who had worked as a part-time security guard for the team since 1993. His primary duty during the season was to escort the head coach and his staff on game days.
Kim Klawiter, the Vikings' director of security, said Foster spent the night in an RV outside the Gage Hall dormitories at Minnesota State, Mankato. Foster did not show up for breakfast, and team officials eventually found him in the RV.
"Frank was my boss in the National Guard," Klawiter said. "He was my mentor with Vikings security. He set a very high standard for the rest of us to follow as far as punctuality, public relations and being fan-friendly. He just set the example for the rest of us. If I could be half the guy he was, I would be very happy with my life."
Center Matt Birk, who is entering his 10th season with the Vikings, said: "He just seemed like a super guy. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and hopefully they get through this tough time. You talk about sudden. I don't know what else to say."
Foster is survived by his wife, Kathy, and two adult children.

That sucks.. 66 is still pretty young these days.. That would be the way to go though, the security for the Minnesota Vikings.. Hopefully his family can get through this rough time..

I think the Tribune meant not directly related to the TEAM in the sense of a player/coach!
