Re: Day 1 winners and loosers
I agree, signing Allen was pretty big.
At the same time, I would have been more content if we had gone after a TE or QB in round 2. Maybe I am asking too much, but I don't think this team needs yet another safety.
Re: Day 1 winners and losers
I tried posting this but I am having huge problems trying to get on the site. Our pick is a good one but I think we still have a huge hole at OT.
Re: Day 1 winners and losers
I thought that RB Mendanhall dropped far too far. The Steelers won in my opinion by grabbing him where they did. I think that the Bears screwed up by not drafting him.
Re: Day 1 winners and losers
Th Dolphins had a hugely successful day by getting Long,Merling and Henne which has the potential to anchor their lines and lead the offense in 3 consecutive picks.
The Tuna put on a clinic on how to build a team from the ruins.

Why do you keep saying this when we have 2 starting safeties (one who is getting old and his contract is up soon), a backup in Boulware who hasn't started in years, and another backup who won't get on the field?
I'd say Johnson is automatically our 3rd safety and will excel on special teams, and he'll be ready to take over for Sharper either during the season or after it.
He's not as good as he used to be..

What safeties do we have? It was well known that we would add a safety at the draft ... and maybe do it early. Are you really that comfy with our depth there? Sharper and Williams should be fine, but Michael Boulware? He barely even saw the field in Houston last year, what makes you think he is the answer here.
This kid is by all accounts a steal where we got him ... and safety is clearly a need on this team. Sharper is not getting any younger. This kid will provide stability should we see an injury ... and should be a starter within two years.
He is a very good pick.
Re: Day 1 winners and losers
Getting Allen was huge, and then getting a safety to take over Sharpers spot in a year a two, i love it!
Re: Day 1 winners and losers
disagree with carolina as a winner. yes they got two very good players, but they hard over paid to trade up for utah.
i think most of the QBs besides ryan and flacco are losers. i guess henne has a chance to start, but brohm really has no chance at being opening day starter. unless rodgers really starts to poo the bed, then brohm is going to be sitting for a long time.

The Packers have no qualms of sitting a guy they get for awhile.
Just look at Rogers himself, unless there is a trade or Rogers just totally bombs I suspect Brohm won't see the field until he becomes a free agent.
