    1) We don't know what the asking price was. Multiple 1st rounds? A first and a third? Who knows.
    2) We don't know if Childress was the one who wasn't sold on Cutler.
    3) We don't even know if this report is true.
The timing of it is weird, since we had just traded for Sage.
I would have been shocked if our FO was engaged in two QB trade talks at the same time, especially if it would have decimated our draft (when we really need those picks to address some position issues).
Even if it was a first and a third, that would have meant we lost our first, third, and fourth this year.
    Don't see that happening.

I personally think this report is BS.

    repeat.

Nowhere in the article does it say, the price was too high, NOWHERE!!!!!! It DOES say this brilliant coaching staff thought Cutler wasn't good enough.
I like TJ, but this should be enough to get this entire staff banished from football, alla Mike Lynn.
Why must you defend everything this FO does....to the point of making your self look like a yes man.

But after talking to a variety of personnel sources over the past 10 days, a handful of facts have emerged:

    • Before Tampa was involved in a potential three-way trade for Cutler, Minnesota was actually the first team to become engaged in talks for the quarterback. McDaniels acknowledged Tuesday that another team had inquired about Cutler prior to Tampa Bay’s interest, but he declined to name that team. A personnel source confirmed it was the Vikings. According to two league sources, the Vikings would have shipped draft picks to Denver for Cutler, and Denver would have turned around and sent picks to New England for Cassel. However, the deal fell apart early on, after some elements in the Minnesota coaching staff weren’t entirely sold on Cutler.
Still not specific on the which picks, but come on..."weren’t entirely sold on Cutler"???

NO WHERE in the article did it say it was Childress.
    NO WHERE!

People will find anything to blame Childress for.
    It is absolutely ludicrous.
There is not enough information with this story to balme anyone.

It is someone supposingly reporting the coaching staff.
Why would they have been asking if they weren't interested in the first place?
So quick to jump to conclusions.
    It really is getting old.

    You posed it right Neph.
This article is suggesting it may have been Childress.
There are no reports it was Childress or that it really even happened in the first place.
    No true confirmation.
I agree we need a QB and if in fact Childress was not willing to at least look into it I will be pissed too.
But all this article really does is suggest something but doesn't give solid proof that anything even really happened.
Anyone can write, "A source said".
Who's going to prove that wrong?
When they start naming names or Childress himself comes out and states this (he did so with other QBs he wasn't interested in) then it didn't happen.

it may be getting old ejmat, but this really sucks, IF true.

Chilly's tenure so far would tell you he is not the premiere judge of QB talent in the NFL.

Re: Cutler Trade Blown by Niches in Coaching Staff

    Okay thanks EJ,

What pisses me off is now I dislike Childress and his staff to suggest the a PRO BOWL QB isn't good enough for the Vikngs. Whining and meowing aside.
