Could we have a reverse Herschel Walker trade?

I know that AD is a phenomenal talent, but is there any way that the Vikings would trade him if somebody was willing to pay a huge price?
If so, which team might go for such a trade?
The Texans who are a beastly RB and a safety away from the playoffs?
The Falcons who desperately need a morale boost and a new star?
Maybe the Seahawks who are a stud RB away from championship contention?

This is all speculation (and sheer blasphemy) of course, but wouldn't it be so sweet to get a ton of great players for one and be Super Bowl contenders for a decade, just like the Cowgirls did with us in the 90s?
Just a weird thought I had right before bed.
Thought it might make for a fun thread.

You may have been better off going to sleep.
    ;D
Actually people have brought this up before.
I don't think it will go over well.
Just remember AP is a rookie this year.
He has a lot of play in him.
I don't thik there is anything the Vikes can get for him to make up for his talents.
Most likely, no team will be stupid enough (like the Vikes were) to give up half of a #1 ranked defense and all those draft picks.

Only if Mike Lynn was the GM for another organization but I think that is going to be awful tough to line up at this point. I wonder if Kevin McHale read Mike Lynn's how to book on building a championship team

Yeah ... I don't think so. Besides ... Walker NEVER was close to the talent Peterson is. Only once rished for 1,300 yards. No way they trade him. He is far too good ... and they already are the ones who traded for Herschel Walker and traded away Randy Moss.

Re: Could we have a reverse Herschel Walker trade?

I have never missed a chance to remind my brother, a long-time Cowboys fan, that the garden years for his team in the 90's came courtesy of my team, the Vikings. He doesn't care, but it gives me a chance to mention the Vikes in conversations about the Boys and their amazing run with Aikman at the helm.

This is a cool thread idea, especially in light of Peterson's ineffectiveness in the final games–sometimes in contrast to Taylor's success. The previous posters are right, of course. AD is a rare talent and the Vikes wouldn't likely get equal return on trading him, but you sure got me thinking me a minute.

Let Taylor stay the man, load up on what we need, and build an empire on an AD sacrifice. With the taste in my mouth that will linger for months on a season that slipped away, I am intrigued about the possibilities your speculation might result in.

Chilly already hinted that keeping AD next year would result in losing CT. Would keeping CT along with gaining a bevy of needed studs tip the scales in our favor next year, even if it meant losing AD to another team. It damn well might.

Too bad we'll never know. Thanks for chance to ruminate.

Remember how Taylor faded last year near the end of the season? He got worn out and didn't face 8 or 9 in the box.

Re: Could we have a reverse Herschel Walker trade?

If anything, we should keep AD and trade Chester while he has some real value as a starting RB on the market. There are a few teams who I believe would give up quite a bit for him. I know about the whole two RB thing and all with injuries and everything but I believe Mewelde would be a fine backup as we groom another possible draft pick or backup guy from elsewhere at the position.
    Even babies know the difference.

Taylor did have to carry it 65 more times last year than AD did this year, so fatigue shouldn't have been a factor for Peterson, although the injury most certainly was (despite his gamely modest claims to the contrary). This year both backs had nearly identical averages per rush, so all props to CT. Also, AD will likely face 8-9 man fronts many times in his career and will have to overcome that. Will he? I think so and hope so. As long as he's wearing the Horns, I'm pulling for him every step of the way.
